A month page is evergreen: it describes what every February looks like on the international calendar, then lists the dated events of the next February with their status.
01Where the season is concentrated
February is the hinge between winter and the spring fairs. The Alps hold: White Turf puts racehorses on the frozen lake at St. Moritz on three Sundays, the Engadin fills for the whole month, and Courchevel's fireworks festival runs into March. The women's fashion weeks begin in New York in the second week and run through London and Milan into Paris in early March, the first of the year's two great fashion migrations. Palm Beach reaches its peak with the Palm Beach Show, the Winter Equestrian Festival at full strength and the boat show in the wings; Miami has the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and its boat show in the same weeks.
Europe's festival traditions give the month its other character: Venice's Carnival in the days before Lent, the Berlinale's ten days of premieres, the Vienna Opera Ball on the last Thursday before Lent. In the art world the year's first significant fairs open — ARCOmadrid, Frieze Los Angeles and, since 2026, Art Basel Qatar in Doha.

04Important destinations
St. Moritz is the destination of the month in Europe, with Gstaad and Courchevel close behind. Palm Beach is at its social peak; Miami is warming up towards March. New York, London and Milan carry the fashion weeks; Venice and Vienna carry the traditions; Berlin has its festival. Doha, Madrid and Los Angeles matter for a week each because of their fairs.
05Geographic movement
Two clear movements: the fashion caravan west to east from New York to Paris over four weeks, and the collector circuit's first swing through Los Angeles, Madrid and Doha. Otherwise the pattern of January holds — mountains and Florida — with Miami beginning to draw people south from Palm Beach at the end of the month for the boat show and the wine festival.
06Weather
Peak snow reliability in the Alps, though warm Februaries have thinned the ice on the St. Moritz lake and White Turf has had race days cancelled on safety grounds. Florida is at its best. Venice in Carnival can be cold, foggy and flooded; the Berlinale is a coat-and-scarf festival. Doha is pleasant; Los Angeles is in its rainy season.
07The most important weekends
The three White Turf Sundays, the middle of which usually coincides with the New York shows and the Berlinale's opening. The last weekend of the month, when Milan Fashion Week ends and the Miami boat show opens, pulls in two directions at once.
08Where the season moves next
March takes the calendar to the water and the fairs: TEFAF in Maastricht, Art Basel Hong Kong, the Dubai World Cup, the St. Barths Bucket Regatta, Indian Wells and the Miami Open, with the Alps closing their season by the end of the month and Palm Beach handing over to Miami.
