A month page is evergreen: it describes what every November looks like on the international calendar, then lists the dated events of the next November with their status.
01Where the season is concentrated
November is the auction month. New York's fall marquee sales at Christie's, Sotheby's and Phillips in the second and third weeks are the year's largest concentration of art money in one city; Geneva's watch and jewelry auctions and the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie fall in the same fortnight; Hong Kong's autumn sales close the Asian year; the Hospices de Beaune auction on the third Sunday is the wine trade's oldest fixture. Paris has Paris Photo in the Grand Palais. Racing has its two southern-hemisphere and American climaxes — the Melbourne Cup Carnival in the first week and the Breeders' Cup — and Formula 1 heads for its Las Vegas night race and then the Gulf. Abu Dhabi Art, Dubai Watch Week (odd years), the Dubai Airshow (odd years), Web Summit in Lisbon and the CFDA Fashion Awards fill the calendar; the DP World Tour Championship ends the golf season in Dubai. St. Barts' gourmet festival opens the Caribbean season quietly.

04Important destinations
New York and Geneva for the sales; Melbourne for its Cup week; Las Vegas for a race weekend; Hong Kong, Paris and Abu Dhabi for their fairs; Dubai in odd years; Turin for the tennis finals; St. Barts as it reopens.
05Geographic movement
The season begins to divide. Collectors are in New York, then Geneva; the Formula 1 crowd is in Las Vegas and then the Gulf; racing moves from Melbourne to the Breeders' Cup and then stops; and by the last week the first winter movements begin — south to the Caribbean and Florida, up to the Alps as the first resorts open.
06Weather
New York is cold and can be wet; Geneva is grey; Melbourne is spring and can be hot on Cup day. Las Vegas at night in November is cold enough that the race has needed heated grandstands. Dubai and Abu Dhabi enter their best season. St. Barts is at the end of its rainy months.
07The most important weekends
The middle weekend of November, between the New York evening sales and the Geneva auctions, and the Melbourne Cup week at the start. The Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend is the month's loudest.
08Where the season moves next
December: Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami in the first week, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, La Scala's opening night on the 7th, the Fashion Awards in London, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show, and then the migration to St. Barts and the Alps for the festive season, with New Year's Eve in Gustavia's harbour as the year's last fixture.
