Gulfstream G600, EBACE 2018

EBACE was for two decades the European business aviation industry's annual meeting, staged at Palexpo in Geneva and distinguished by the one thing a convention centre cannot provide: a static display of aircraft parked on the adjoining tarmac at Geneva Airport, reached on foot from the exhibition halls. The 2017 edition drew more than 12,000 visitors and 450 exhibitors with 60 aircraft on the ramp.

It is not currently running. EBAA announced on 10 April 2026, less than two months before the doors were due to open, that the edition scheduled for 2 to 4 June 2026 was cancelled, saying the format had not generated the momentum needed for a viable edition. Trade reporting also cited complaints about the cost of Palexpo space and Geneva accommodation, and security concerns dating from 2023, when climate activists reached the static display. EBAA says it remains committed to future events and is reconsidering what form they should take.

01Pourquoi c'est important

EBACE mattered because Geneva is the natural centre of European business aviation — it is one of the busiest business-aviation airports on the continent, sits within reach of the Alpine and Riviera destinations these aircraft serve, and hosts the banking and family-office clients who buy them. In our reading its cancellation is the more interesting fact than its history.

02La semaine environnante

When the show ran, its footprint on Geneva was narrow: Palexpo sits beside the airport, several kilometres from the old town, so the exhibition had little effect on the city while the business-aviation apron was at capacity. In a year without it, late May and early June are ordinary weeks in Geneva.

03Quand arriver

Not applicable while the event is suspended.

04Où séjourner

Palexpo is next to the airport in the Grand-Saconnex district, about fifteen minutes from the centre, and the airport hotels are closest. The lakeside quays of the Rive Droite and the old town on the Rive Gauche are where most visitors to Geneva actually stay, both an easy train or tram ride away.

05Accès et hospitalité

EBACE was a trade event, open to registered industry professionals and accredited press rather than the public, with badges sold by the organisers and exhibition space and chalets sold to manufacturers and operators. Registered attendees for the cancelled 2026 edition were refunded.

06Où se déroule l'activité sociale

The show's social life was concentrated in the exhibitor chalets on the static display, in the Palexpo halls and in the airport-district and lakeside hotels; manufacturers hosted their own dinners in the city and on the lake.

07Comment s'y rendre

Aviation commercialeGeneva Airport is immediately adjacent to Palexpo, connected on foot and by a two-minute rail link, which was one of the show's practical advantages.
RailGeneva Airport station is on the Swiss network with direct services to Lausanne, Bern, Zurich and Milan, and a three-minute connection to Geneva Cornavin in the city centre.
VoitureThe A1 motorway passes the exhibition centre.
Aviation privéeGeneva is among Europe's busiest business-aviation airports, with several fixed-base operators and heavy seasonal traffic to the Alps and the Riviera.
HélicoptèreHelicopter transfers operate from Geneva to the French and Swiss Alpine resorts throughout the year.
MarinasLake Geneva's harbours at Geneva, Versoix and Nyon take pleasure craft, though the show generated no arrivals by water.

08Informations pratiques

Tenue vestimentaireBusiness dress, with practical shoes for the static display, which involves a long walk on an exposed airport apron in whatever weather Geneva provides.
MétéoLate May and early June in Geneva are mild and changeable, with afternoon highs usually in the low twenties Celsius, cool evenings, and a real chance of rain and thunderstorms coming off the Alps.
Se déplacerGeneva's public transport is free to hotel guests on a card issued at check-in, and the airport-to-city rail link takes under ten minutes.
HôtelsGeneva is expensive year-round and hotel cost was named in trade reporting as one of the pressures on the show's viability.
RestaurantsGeneva's dining concentrates in the old town, the Eaux-Vives and Carouge, none of it affected by the show's absence.
Délais de réservationNot currently relevant. When the show ran, delegates booked hotels two to three months ahead.
BilletsThere is nothing on sale. Registration for the cancelled 2026 edition was refunded, and no future edition has been announced.
HospitalitéExhibition space, chalets and static display positions were sold by the organisers to exhibitors, who ran their own hospitality.

09Historique

EBAA, founded in 1977 and based in Brussels, launched EBACE in 2001 with its American counterpart the National Business Aviation Association, modelling it on NBAA's own annual convention.
