For four days at the end of September the whole of Port Hercule is given over to the show. The harbour is emptied of its usual residents, temporary pontoons are laid across the water, and roughly 120 yachts between about twenty-five and ninety metres are berthed stern-to along the quays so that visitors walk the harbour ring and look down the passerelles at each boat in turn. Around fifty tenders and a handful of small craft sit on a separate quay, and the Darse Sud, the southern basin, is covered by a temporary structure holding the exhibitors who do not float: shipyards, naval architects, brokerage houses, marine engineers, interiors and materials firms, tender and toy builders, and the suppliers who sit behind all of them. The organizer reported around 560 exhibitors for the 2026 edition.

The structure is a trade show wearing a harbour as a venue. The Wednesday is by invitation only and is the day the brokers and the shipyards use for their own appointments; Thursday and Friday are the full trading days and the busiest; Saturday is shorter and noticeably more public, when a proportion of the crowd is there to look rather than to buy. Boarding a yacht requires an appointment made through the broker or the yard exhibiting it, which is the single most misunderstood thing about the show — a visitor pass gets you onto the quays and into the tented exhibition, not up the gangways.

Around the show itself sits a large programme of receptions, press conferences and product launches staged by exhibitors, some on the yachts and some in the hotels and clubhouses immediately behind the port. Wikipedia's account of the show puts the number of these at more than 150 across the four days. Almost all of them are by invitation. What is genuinely open is the harbour itself: the Rock, the Quai Antoine 1er side and the terraces above the port give a free view of the whole fleet, and a great many people watch the show from outside the fence.

01Lý do quan trọng

This is where the large-yacht industry does its year's business in one place. Shipyards time hull launches to it, brokers time listings to it, and the design and refit firms treat the week as their principal shop window. A yacht for sale that is not in Monaco in late September is at a disadvantage, and a yard announcing a new line generally announces it here.

In our reading, its authority comes from being both a market and a display. Fort Lauderdale sells more boats by volume and Cannes shows more of them by number, but neither concentrates owners, captains, yard principals and brokerage decision-makers in a single walkable harbour the way Monaco does for these four days. The setting does real work: the show fits inside a working principality with a hotel, restaurant and club infrastructure already built for the Grand Prix, so the commercial week and the social week are the same week without anyone having to organize it.

02Tuần lễ xung quanh sự kiện

Monaco reorganizes itself around the port. The commercial harbour closes to normal traffic in the days beforehand while pontoons and the Darse Sud tent are built; the Quai Albert 1er, which is Grand Prix grandstand territory in May, becomes the show's spine. Traffic in and out of the principality slows badly on the Thursday and Friday mornings, and the tunnel and the Boulevard Albert 1er are the worst of it. Hotels in Monaco and along the coast to Nice and Menton run full, and the coastal train and the Basse Corniche carry a lot of people who could not get a room in the principality.

The fleet at anchor outside the harbour — yachts too large for a berth, or brought for the week without exhibiting — is a spectacle in itself and is visible free from the Rock, from the Jardin Exotique and from the corniche roads. Cafés and restaurant terraces around the port are booked out from Wednesday, and Larvotto and the Monte Carlo side stay a little calmer. Cannes has emptied by this point: its own show finishes about two weeks earlier, and part of the same industry crowd moves along the coast.

03Thời điểm đến

Arrive Tuesday evening or Wednesday if you have Wednesday access, and otherwise Wednesday evening for a Thursday start. Thursday and Friday are the days to be there — the fullest quays, the most people, and the last day on which appointments are easy to arrange. Saturday is a good day to look and a poor day to do business. Most of the trade leaves Friday night or Saturday morning; Sunday is quiet and the harbour is already being dismantled.

04Nơi lưu trú

Staying in Monaco means walking to the show, which matters more here than anywhere else on the calendar because road access is so constrained. The Carré d'Or and the Monte Carlo side put you above the port with a short walk down; the Condamine, immediately behind the harbour, is the closest and the noisiest. Fontvieille is quieter and about twenty minutes on foot. Outside the principality, Cap d'Ail, Beausoleil and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin are a short train or taxi ride and materially cheaper; Nice, thirty minutes by train, is the standard fallback and has real capacity. Beaulieu, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Èze offer the most pleasant compromise between distance and quiet. Hotels are named here only as landmarks; the show does not publish accommodation rates and neither do we.

05Tiếp cận và tiếp đón

The organizer sells pre-bookable visitor passes online and lists several categories: a general visitor pass, an exhibitor guest pass issued by exhibitors to buyers and charterers, a press pass, MYS VIP and Prestige VIP passes, and a Captains and Crew Lounge pass. Wednesday is invitation-only. There is no official dress code, though the organizer reserves the right to refuse entry on grounds of dress or conduct. Boarding any yacht is arranged separately with the broker or shipyard exhibiting it, not through the ticket. Prices are published on the organizer's ticketing platform, which we did not read, and none are quoted here.

06Nơi diễn ra các hoạt động giao lưu

The public geography of the week is the ring of the port. The Quai Antoine 1er and the Quai Albert 1er carry the pedestrian traffic and the café terraces; the Rock above the harbour gives the best free view of the fleet, and the walk up from the Condamine market is worth doing early in the morning before the crowds. The Yacht Club de Monaco building on the Quai Louis II is the week's institutional centre — its restaurant and terrace are members' territory, but the building's public face and the quay outside it are where a great deal of the standing-around happens. Casino Square, the Hôtel de Paris terrace, the Café de Paris and the bars along the Boulevard des Moulins take the evenings, along with the restaurants of the Condamine. Beausoleil, immediately over the French border and a five-minute walk uphill, is where a lot of the crew and the trade actually eat.

07Hướng dẫn di chuyển

Hàng không thương mạiNice Côte d'Azur (NCE) is about thirty kilometres away and is the only realistic airport, with direct flights from most of Europe and long-haul services from North America and the Gulf. Allow well over an hour by road during show week.
Đường sắtThe TER coastal line runs from Nice to Monaco-Monte-Carlo in roughly twenty-five minutes and from Menton in about ten, several times an hour, into an underground station in the middle of the principality. During the show it is comfortably the fastest way in and out.
Xe hơiThe A8 autoroute and the three corniche roads reach Monaco. Parking is in public underground car parks, several of which fill by mid-morning on Thursday and Friday; the organizer directs visitors to the car parks around Port Hercule and to Monaco's monabike scheme for the last stretch.
hàng không tư nhânNice Côte d'Azur handles business aviation through dedicated terminals on the west side of the airport; Cannes-Mandelieu takes smaller aircraft. Slots and parking at Nice tighten sharply during the show.
Trực thăngScheduled and on-demand helicopter shuttles run Nice-Monaco in about seven minutes to the Monaco Heliport at Fontvieille. This is the standard transfer during show week and capacity is heavily booked.
Bến du thuyềnPort Hercule is closed to visiting yachts for the duration — the show occupies it entirely. Port de Fontvieille, on the other side of the Rock, is Monaco's second harbour and is also fully committed. Realistic alternatives are Cap d'Ail's Port de Marina Baie des Anges, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, plus the anchorages off Cap Martin; many large yachts simply lie at anchor outside the breakwater and tender in.

08Thông tin thực tiễn

Trang phụcThe organizer publishes no dress code but reserves the right to refuse entry on grounds of appearance. In practice the trade wears business dress adapted to a hot quay — open-collar shirts, unstructured jackets, dresses — and boat shoes or flat soles, because the pontoons are metal, sun-heated and slippery. Evening events lean smart; a jacket is expected in the hotel bars around Casino Square. Sun protection matters more than most people expect: the harbour offers almost no shade.
Thời tiếtLate September on the Riviera is warm and usually settled, with daytime temperatures typically in the middle to high twenties Celsius and sea temperatures still comfortable. The main risk is a short, heavy Mediterranean thunderstorm, which the harbour handles badly because the quays and pontoons are entirely open. No station normals were sourced for this record.
Di chuyển trong khu vựcMonaco is small enough to walk, and during the show walking is faster than driving almost everywhere. The public lifts and escalators that connect the harbour to the streets above are the local trick and are free. Taxis are limited in number and queue badly at the end of each day; the train and the helicopter shuttle absorb most of the pressure. Road closures around the port begin several days before the show opens.
Khách sạnMonaco's hotel stock is small and the show sells it out. Rooms in the principality typically go months ahead, with the pressure concentrated on Wednesday to Friday nights; the coast toward Nice and Menton holds availability longer and is where most visitors actually stay. Minimum-stay requirements over the show nights are common. Book by spring for a Monaco room.
Nhà hàngEvery restaurant with a view of the port is committed to exhibitor functions or booked out from Wednesday. Reserve well ahead for anything on the Quai Albert 1er, Casino Square or the Yacht Club side. Beausoleil, Cap d'Ail and the back streets of the Condamine are where tables can still be found at short notice, and lunch is easier than dinner throughout.
Thời điểm đặt chỗHotels three to six months ahead for Monaco itself, two to three for the surrounding coast. Passes go on sale in the summer. Restaurant tables in the port area at least three to four weeks ahead for the Thursday and Friday. Helicopter transfers and Nice private-aviation slots book out earliest of all.
VéPasses are pre-bookable online through the organizer and are checked at the gates; the published categories are the visitor pass, the exhibitor guest pass, press accreditation, MYS VIP and Prestige VIP, and a Captains and Crew Lounge pass. Wednesday 23 September 2026 is invitation-only. Passes admit the holder to the quays, the pontoons and the Darse Sud exhibition, not aboard the yachts. Prices are set on the organizer's ticketing platform and are not quoted here.
Tiếp đónThe organizer's VIP tiers are the only hospitality it sells directly; everything else in the week is exhibitor hospitality, which is by invitation and is arranged through the yards, brokers and sponsors rather than the show. Reporting on the show consistently describes a dense evening programme of brand receptions and yacht launches across the four days. We describe none of them from the inside and name no private function.

09Lịch sử

The show was founded in 1991 by Maurice Cohen as a broker-led event, small enough in its first years to be an appointment book rather than an exhibition. It grew steadily through the 1990s as the size of yachts under construction grew, and the Prince's Government's willingness to hand over the commercial port for a week gave it a venue no competitor could match.

Informa, the British events group, acquired the show in 2005 and scaled it. Wikipedia records around 65 yachts and roughly 15,000 visitors in 2002 against a doubled attendance and a substantially larger fleet by 2016, with the yachts on display valued at some €4.5 billion in 2017. The Car Deck, a motoring display added in 2016, marked the point at which the show began deliberately courting an adjacent audience rather than only the marine trade. More recent editions have added a stronger sustainability and refit strand, and the organizer has announced a separate refit conference in Monaco for March 2027.

Yacht owners and their advisers; charter and sales brokers, who make up the largest professional group; shipyard executives and sales teams; captains and senior crew, who have their own lounge and use the week for supplier meetings; naval architects, interior designers and refit yards; marine equipment and materials suppliers; family office and wealth-structuring firms with a marine practice; specialist marine media; and a substantial Saturday public that comes to look at the harbour.
