Milan is the third stop of the womenswear cycle and the one that runs on manufacturing. The houses that show here mostly own or sit beside the factories that make the clothes, in Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany and Marche, and the week's commercial logic follows from that: buyers come to Milan to place orders with companies that can deliver them. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana sets the calendar from its offices on the Piazza del Duomo, and its published schedule is granular in a way the other cities' are not - runway shows, presentations, by-appointment showings and city events are listed as four separate streams, with addresses and times. The February 2026 calendar ran to 217 entries: 61 shows, 80 presentations, 29 appointments and 47 events.

The shows themselves are staged in the city's own rooms. Palazzo Reale on the Piazza del Duomo, Palazzo Serbelloni on the corso Venezia and a long list of private courtyards and piano nobile floors hold the majority, with the larger houses building inside their own headquarters in the Quadrilatero or in converted industrial buildings out toward Tortona and Bovisa. Milan is smaller and flatter than Paris and a good deal of the week is walked or taken by taxi in ten-minute hops, which gives the days a faster rhythm than the Paris calendar allows.

CNMI also runs the Fashion Hub, its platform for emerging designers, at Palazzo Morando on the via Sant'Andrea. For the February 2026 edition the Hub opened to the public after a private launch, free on prior accreditation through the chamber's own site, and the calendar's events column listed the museum exhibitions running across the city that week at GAM, MUDEC, Palazzo Reale, Triennale, Palazzo Citterio and Fondazione Prada. Those are the parts of Milan fashion week an ordinary visitor can walk into.

01Lý do quan trọng

Italy is the manufacturing base of European luxury, and Milan is the week at which that capacity is sold. A disproportionate share of the world's leather goods, knitwear, tailoring and textile production sits within three hours' drive of the city, and the relationships that route that work - between houses, mills, tanneries and contract manufacturers - are maintained during fashion week as much as in the showrooms the rest of the year. The order book placed here is the one most likely to be filled on time.

In our reading, Milan's character comes from its directness. It has fewer shows than Paris, less institutional gatekeeping, and a calendar that mixes billion-euro houses with two-person labels in the same document and the same week. The result is a fashion week that is easier to read, easier to move around, and considerably less interested in mystique than the city that follows it. It is also the one of the four where the host city's own social calendar - the Quadrilatero, the aperitivo hour, the Piazza del Duomo - is doing as much work as the shows.

02Tuần lễ xung quanh sự kiện

Milan during fashion week is a city visibly at work. The Quadrilatero della Moda - via Montenapoleone, via della Spiga, via Sant'Andrea and corso Venezia - carries showroom traffic from early morning, and the via Tortona and Bovisa districts fill with trucks building sets. Short street closures appear around each venue rather than across the centre, so the city keeps moving, but taxis become scarce between 17:00 and 20:00 and the ATM metro is faster for most journeys.

The museums schedule against the week deliberately, and CNMI prints their run dates in the official calendar. In February 2026 that meant major exhibitions at Palazzo Reale, GAM, MUDEC, Triennale, Palazzo Citterio and Fondazione Prada all open during fashion week and all ticketed in the ordinary way. The September edition sits in the same month as the Milan design and art calendars' autumn openings and a week before The Armory Show in New York, which thins the visiting American art crowd; the February edition runs into the first days of March and, in some years, brushes the start of the Italian ski season's final weeks. The week's least-discussed feature is the aperitivo hour, which in Milan is a civic institution and which during fashion week turns the Brera and Porta Nuova bars into the de facto meeting rooms of the industry.

03Thời điểm đến

Buyers arrive Monday evening for a Tuesday start and work through to the Saturday; the Sunday and Monday carry significant shows but a thinning audience as the press corps moves on to Paris. Arriving Tuesday morning and leaving Sunday morning covers the substance of the week. Anyone whose interest is the city rather than the calendar should come for the same days and plan around the exhibitions and the Fashion Hub rather than the shows, or else arrive the following Tuesday, when Milan returns to itself and the hotel market softens immediately.

04Nơi lưu trú

The Quadrilatero and the streets immediately around it put you inside the showroom district and within walking distance of most central venues; the Four Seasons on via Gesu and the Mandarin Oriental on via Monte di Pieta are the landmarks of that area, named here as reference points rather than recommendations. Brera, just north of the Duomo, is quieter, full of restaurants and a ten-minute walk from the Quadrilatero. Porta Nuova and the Garibaldi district suit anyone working the newer office and showroom buildings and have the largest stock of rooms. Tortona and the Navigli are cheaper, closer to the industrial venues and where a good deal of the week's younger audience stays. Milan's hotel capacity is large by the standards of the four cities but fashion week and the April furniture fair are the two periods when it genuinely fills.

05Tiếp cận và tiếp đón

Runway shows are by invitation from the house; CNMI accredits press and buyers for the season on application. The chamber publishes the full official calendar free on cameramoda.it, including addresses, times and the separate streams for presentations, appointments and events, and it keeps past calendars online - which makes it the most useful public document of any of the four weeks. The CNMI Fashion Hub at Palazzo Morando admits the public on free prior accreditation through the chamber's site, with published opening hours. City exhibitions listed in the events column are ticketed by the museums. There is no hospitality programme and no price published at any level.

06Nơi diễn ra các hoạt động giao lưu

The public geography is the Quadrilatero and the Piazza del Duomo. Crowds gather outside the Palazzo Reale and the palazzi on corso Venezia to watch arrivals, and the pavements of via Montenapoleone and via Sant'Andrea carry photographers all week; none of it requires a ticket. Brera's cafes and the bars around corso Como and Porta Nuova take the aperitivo hour, which is where the industry's informal business is done between 18:00 and 20:00. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the Camparino are the city's permanent meeting rooms and function as such during the week. Palazzo Morando's Fashion Hub is open to accredited visitors, and the Tortona district's design spaces hold public exhibitions and launches. Private dinners and after-parties are not described here.

Hàng không thương mạiMalpensa (MXP) is the long-haul gateway, about 50 km northwest with the Malpensa Express to Cadorna and Centrale in under an hour. Linate (LIN) is 8 km east, a short taxi or the M4 metro from the centre, and handles most short-haul European traffic; it is the airport the industry uses. Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY) takes low-cost flights.
Đường sắtMilano Centrale is the hub of the Italian high-speed network: Rome in under three hours, Florence in about one and three quarters, Turin in fifty minutes, and direct TGV and Eurocity services to Paris, Zurich and Geneva. The Paris train is the relevant connection at the end of the week.
Xe hơiMilan's Area C congestion charge and Area B low-emission zone cover the centre, and the Quadrilatero is largely pedestrian or restricted. A car is a liability for the week; taxis, the metro and walking cover everything.
hàng không tư nhânLinate Prime is the principal business-aviation terminal and is minutes from the centre; Malpensa and Bergamo absorb overflow. Slots at Linate tighten sharply on the first and last days of the week.

08Thông tin thực tiễn

Trang phụcMilan dresses more conventionally than the other three cities and more precisely. Tailoring reads correctly here in a way it does not in London, and the local standard - good shoes, a good coat, nothing conspicuous - is closer to business dress than to fashion-week costume. February is cold and damp with the Po valley fog; late September is warm in the afternoon and cool after dark. The practical requirements are shoes for cobbles and a coat that works at both 9am and 9pm.
Thời tiếtLate February in Milan is cold and often foggy, with daytime highs commonly between 8 and 13 degrees Celsius and low cloud that sits on the city for days; late September is warm and generally settled, often in the low to mid twenties, with cool evenings. No station normals were sourced for this record.
Di chuyển trong khu vựcThe metro, particularly M1, M3 and M4, reaches every central venue and Linate airport, and is faster than a taxi during the evening show blocks. Taxis must be booked or taken from ranks and are scarce between 17:00 and 20:00. Area C charges apply to private cars entering the centre on weekdays. Walking between Quadrilatero appointments is normal and expected.
Khách sạnFashion week and the April furniture fair are the two weeks when Milan's hotel market genuinely fills, and rates rise accordingly; the Quadrilatero and Brera go first. Minimum-stay requirements appear over the opening weekend. Booking two to three months ahead is advisable, earlier for the September edition.
Nhà hàngRestaurants in the Quadrilatero, Brera and Porta Nuova are committed to house lunches and dinners across the week and the best-known rooms are effectively closed to outsiders. Lunch is considerably easier than dinner. The Navigli, Isola and Porta Romana hold availability, and the aperitivo hour works on turnover rather than reservations.
Thời điểm đặt chỗHotels two to three months ahead, more for September. Restaurant tables in the central districts two to three weeks ahead for the show days. CNMI accreditation closes several weeks before the season opens, and Fashion Hub accreditation is free but must be completed in advance.
VéNo tickets are sold for shows. The official calendar is free to read on cameramoda.it. The CNMI Fashion Hub at Palazzo Morando admits the public on free prior accreditation through the chamber's site during published hours. The museum exhibitions listed in the calendar's events column are ticketed by the institutions themselves.
Tiếp đónCNMI sells no hospitality. Access at every tier above the Fashion Hub is allocated by houses to their own buyers, press and clients. Partner brands run lounges and services rather than packages, and no prices are published.

09Lịch sử

The institutional founding date is 11 June 1958, when the Camera Sindacale della Moda Italiana was created in Milan by a group that included Roberto Capucci, Emilio Schuberth and Maria Antonelli, with Giovanni Battista Giorgini - the Florentine who had staged the first organized Italian collections for foreign buyers earlier in the decade - among the figures behind it. Italian fashion's centre of gravity moved from Florence to Milan over the following two decades, drawn by the northern textile industry and the city's commercial infrastructure.

The week as it is now recognized took shape in the 1970s and 1980s, when ready-to-wear displaced couture in Italy and a generation of Milanese houses built international wholesale businesses on industrial production rather than made-to-measure. Milan settled into third place in the four-city cycle in that period and has held it since. The most recent structural change was digital: the pandemic forced an entirely online edition in July 2020, and the streaming and digital showroom infrastructure built then has stayed, alongside the physical calendar rather than instead of it. Not every major Italian house shows on the CNMI calendar; several schedule independently, which the chamber's own calendar acknowledges by listing them as events rather than shows.
