The Miami International Autodrome is 5.412 kilometers of temporary circuit laid out around the parking lots and access roads of the Hard Rock Stadium campus in Miami Gardens, twenty-six kilometers north of downtown Miami. The surface is permanent; the barriers, fencing and grandstands are not, and they come down after the weekend so the campus can go back to football. Nineteen corners combine a fast viaduct section with a slow, technical stretch behind the stadium.
The format is a sprint weekend, with the Saturday race added in 2024 and retained since. Around it the promoter builds an American stadium festival: the stadium bowl is used for hospitality and viewing, the Hard Rock Beach Club stages headline music, and tickets run from a general-admission campus pass to Formula 1's Paddock Club.
The result has two centers of gravity. The racing happens at Miami Gardens; the social week happens twenty-five kilometers away on Miami Beach, in Brickell and in the Design District.
01Warum es relevant ist
Miami converted American interest in Formula 1 into an annual fixture with a physical address, and the commercial verdict is unambiguous: after an initial ten-year agreement, Formula 1 and the promoter extended the contract in May 2025 to run through 2041. It lands on the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby, which the sponsorship market treats as a single American occasion. In our reading Miami's real function is as the sport's principal brand marketplace outside Monaco, and the racing is the reason everyone is in the same place.
02Die Woche darum
A city of this size absorbs a Grand Prix without noticing; what changes is the hospitality economy. From Wednesday, hotel meeting space in Brickell and on Miami Beach turns over to sponsor programmes, restaurant private rooms are taken, and the marinas on Biscayne Bay fill with chartered boats used as daytime bases. Reporting each spring describes an extensive circuit of ticketed and invitation-only parties across Miami Beach and the Design District, which draws visitors who never go to the circuit.
03Anreisezeitpunkt
Arrive Wednesday or Thursday, when the city's programme starts and flights and hotels are still reasonable. Leave Monday rather than Sunday night: Miami International runs heavy Sunday evening departures and race traffic clears slowly.
04Unterkunft
Nobody stays in Miami Gardens, so this is a choice of neighborhood. Miami Beach, from South Beach to Bal Harbour, holds most of the visiting audience and most of the evening programme, and is furthest from the circuit in traffic. Brickell and downtown are closest to Brightline and materially quicker to the venue. The Design District and Wynwood suit visitors here for the brand programming. Aventura and Sunny Isles are the pragmatic compromise: unremarkable, and half the driving time.
05Zugang und Hospitality
The promoter publishes a tiered structure: a general-admission campus pass, reserved grandstands with shaded and trackside options, club areas with lounge access, private trackside suites, and Formula 1's Paddock Club with garage and start-finish access. The Hard Rock Beach Club is sold as a ticketed venue in its own right. Compared with Monaco this is a purchasable event, with large capacity and a genuine entry-level ticket.
06Wo das gesellschaftliche Geschehen stattfindet
On the campus, the stadium clubs, the beach club stage and the brand pavilions. In the city, the axis runs from South Beach's hotel bars and pool decks through the Design District's restaurants and flagship stores to Brickell's rooftops, with Wynwood taking the later end. The Biscayne Bay marinas, particularly the deepwater berths on Watson Island, serve as floating daytime hospitality.

09Geschichte
Formula 1 spent a decade trying to place a race in Miami. Proposals for a downtown waterfront circuit ran into municipal and residential opposition, and the event was finally sited on private land at Hard Rock Stadium, with the circuit designed by Apex Circuit Design. The first race was held in May 2022 and is remembered partly for a set-piece marina built on dry land with boats on painted water, widely mocked in reporting at the time and quietly dropped. The sprint format arrived in 2024.
10Wer ist dort
Formula 1's American audience, younger and more mixed than the European rounds; sponsors, agencies and their clients; the fashion, sport, drinks and music industries; Latin American visitors, for whom Miami is the natural destination; and a large local crowd on campus passes.
