The 59th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Watercraft on Middle River from the 59th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Fort Lauderdale Before Dawn, Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Family trek to the Beach at Ft, Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is built on the scale of the city's own marine infrastructure rather than a single fairground: it occupies Bahia Mar's docks, the Broward County Convention Center, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Pier Sixty-Six Marina and a dedicated Superyacht Village at Pier Sixty-Six South, connected across the week by water taxis and shuttle buses. The organizer's recent figures put the show at more than 1,300 vessels on display, over 1,000 exhibiting brands and upward of 100,000 visitors across five days, with a reported economic impact above $1.79 billion for the surrounding region — figures that support its standing as the largest in-water boat show in the world by most measures the industry tracks.

The range on display runs from center-console fishing boats and production sailboats to the largest yachts under construction anywhere, with the Superyacht Village specifically built to hold vessels too large for a conventional marina berth. A separate brokerage section lists yachts already built and for sale rather than new from a yard, which puts new construction, brokerage and equipment side by side in a way few other shows attempt at this scale. The Windward VIP Club, based at Hall of Fame Marina, is the organizer's own paid premium tier, offering priority access and hospitality distinct from the general show pass.

01Por qué es relevante

Fort Lauderdale calls itself the yachting capital of the world on the strength of its marinas, boatyards, brokers and refit yards, and this show is the week that claim is tested in public. It functions for the Americas roughly as the Monaco Yacht Show and the Cannes Yachting Festival do for Europe — the moment shipyards, brokers and equipment makers gather a season's business into one place — but at a larger scale of boats and exhibitors than either, reflecting Florida's position as the commercial center of the US and much of the Western Hemisphere's yacht market.

In our reading, its importance rests specifically on being simultaneously a trade event and a public one: the same docks that host brokerage appointments and yard sales meetings are open, on a ticket, to anyone who wants to walk them, which keeps the show relevant to a far wider audience than the pure superyacht trade.

02La semana en torno al evento

Fort Lauderdale in late October is past the worst of the Atlantic hurricane season and into pleasant, drier weather, and the show's five days are by far the city's busiest of the year for hotels, restaurants and the marine trade specifically. Water taxis and the show's own shuttle network become the practical way to move between the seven venues, and the Intracoastal Waterway itself carries a constant traffic of boats being moved between show sites and nearby yards in the days before opening. Hotel demand extends well beyond the beach into Fort Lauderdale's inland neighborhoods and up toward Pompano Beach and Palm Beach County.

03Cuándo llegar

The middle Thursday and Friday are the steadiest days for serious buyers and brokerage appointments, before the weekend brings the largest general-public crowds; arriving Wednesday allows a full five days to cover all seven venues, which is more than a single day can realistically manage.

04Dónde alojarse

The barrier-island beach strip near Bahia Mar and Pier Sixty-Six puts visitors closest to several of the show's venues and is the most heavily booked; Las Olas Boulevard's hotels, a short drive or water-taxi ride inland, are a common alternative. Greater Fort Lauderdale's convention-oriented hotel stock is large by the standards of most boat-show host cities, which keeps the market less extreme than Monaco's, though rooms nearest the water still go early.

05Acceso y hospitalidad

The organizer sells single-day and multi-day tickets online, along with the paid Windward VIP Club tier at Hall of Fame Marina and separate brokerage-only or superyacht-only access in some years; boarding a specific yacht for sale requires an appointment through its listing broker or yard rather than the general ticket. Prices are set on the organizer's own ticketing platform and are not quoted here.

06Dónde tiene lugar la actividad social

The docks themselves — Bahia Mar's long marina walk in particular — are where the week is visible to a visitor, along with the restaurants and bars of Las Olas Boulevard a short distance inland, which fill with exhibitors, brokers and visitors each evening. The Superyacht Village at Pier Sixty-Six South is a separate, more tightly managed enclosure given its cargo of very large yachts, visible from the water and from Pier Sixty-Six's own grounds even without a boarding pass.

07Cómo llegar

Aviación comercialFort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is minutes from several show venues, with wide domestic and growing international service; Miami International (MIA), about 40 minutes south, is the regional alternative.
FerroviarioBrightline's higher-speed service connects Fort Lauderdale to Miami and West Palm Beach with a downtown station a short taxi ride from the show venues; Tri-Rail serves the wider South Florida region.
AutomóvilInterstate 95 and US 1 (Federal Highway) serve Fort Lauderdale directly; traffic and parking near the beach venues are heavily congested during the show, and the organizer directs visitors to satellite parking with shuttle service.
Aviación privadaFort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) and Signature-served FBOs at FLL handle heavy business-aviation traffic during the show; Palm Beach International is a common overflow option.
HelicópteroOn-demand helicopter charters serve the Fort Lauderdale area and are commonly used by exhibitors and buyers during the show.
MarinasBahia Mar, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina and Pier Sixty-Six Marina are themselves the show's venues and are fully committed to it for the week; visiting boats not part of the show use marinas along the New River and the Intracoastal Waterway, which fill quickly.

08Aspectos prácticos

VestimentaPractical daytime wear suited to walking docks in Florida heat and humidity, with flat, non-marking soles useful for boarding boats; evenings on Las Olas Boulevard run smart-casual, without any dress code tied to the show itself.
ClimaLate October in Fort Lauderdale is warm and generally past the peak of hurricane season, with daytime temperatures typically in the high twenties Celsius and the possibility of brief, heavy tropical downpours. No station normals were sourced for this record.
Cómo desplazarseWater taxis and the show's own shuttle buses are the practical way to move between the seven venues; driving between sites during show hours is slow given the concentrated traffic along the beach corridor.
HotelesBeachfront hotels near Bahia Mar and Pier Sixty-Six sell out first and furthest ahead; Fort Lauderdale's broader hotel stock, including Las Olas and the airport corridor, holds availability considerably longer.
RestaurantesLas Olas Boulevard and the streets around the beach venues are busy throughout the show; reserve ahead for dinner, particularly on the closing weekend.
Momento de la reservaHotels two to four months ahead for properties near the water; tickets can be bought online in advance; restaurant tables a week or two ahead for the busiest evenings.
EntradasThe organizer sells single-day and multi-day tickets online, plus the separately priced Windward VIP Club tier; prices and categories are published on the organizer's own site and are not quoted here. Boarding a specific yacht requires a separate appointment with its broker or exhibiting yard.
HospitalidadBeyond the organizer's own Windward VIP Club, broader entertaining during the week — yard receptions, brokerage dinners, sponsor events — is arranged privately by exhibitors and sponsors and is not described here.

09Historia

The show began in 1959, organized by local boat manufacturers and dealers under the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, with a first edition of just thirteen boats at the Lauderdale Marina. Wikipedia and trade accounts describe steady, then dramatic growth over the following decades as Fort Lauderdale's own marine industry expanded around it — boatyards, brokerages and refit specialists accumulating along the New River and the Intracoastal Waterway specifically because the show existed and kept bringing the trade back every autumn. Informa Markets, the same company that produces the Monaco Yacht Show, now produces the Fort Lauderdale show on behalf of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, which continues to own it.

10Quién está ahí

Yacht buyers and brokers across new-construction and brokerage markets; shipyard and boatbuilder sales and executive teams; captains and crew; marine equipment, electronics and interiors suppliers; charter brokers; specialist marine media in large numbers; and a substantial general public drawn by South Florida's boating culture.
