The Cannes Yachting Festival is a working boat show built around two harbors rather than a hall. At the Vieux Port, on the Palais des Festivals side of the bay, motor yachts and the industry's newer technology take the berths; at Port Canto, along the Croisette toward the Pointe Croisette, sailing yachts, brokerage boats and the wider lifestyle side of the trade are laid out instead. The organizer reported roughly 710 boats between five and fifty-five meters for the 2026 edition, more than 680 exhibitors, about 56,600 visitors and some 680 accredited journalists — figures that make it, by the organizer's own description, the largest such show afloat in Europe. Visitors move between the two sites along the Croisette itself, a walk of a little over a kilometer that passes the Palais and the front of the grand hotels.

The show's format has stayed consistent even as its name has not: buyers and the simply curious walk the pontoons together, sea trials are bookable through exhibitors for qualified buyers, and the Palais des Festivals hosts talks, press conferences and indoor stands alongside the boats on the water. It positions itself explicitly as the first major stop of the autumn boat-show season, opening roughly two weeks before the Monaco Yacht Show and drawing much of the same international trade audience before it moves along the coast.

01Lý do quan trọng

By sheer count of boats and exhibitors, this is the largest floating boat show in Europe, and it is timed to be first: yards and brokers use Cannes to launch a season's new models before the smaller, more concentrated Monaco show two weeks later takes over as the industry's main stage. Its scale is the point — where Monaco compresses the trade into one harbor of superyachts, Cannes spreads a much wider range of the market, from production sailboats and day cruisers to yachts over fifty meters, across two ports and six days.

In our reading, the festival's importance also rests on its role as a public event in a way Monaco's is not. Cannes's fifty-six thousand visitors include a large number of people who are not buyers at all, and the show has kept a genuinely public, walk-on character even as the boats on display have grown larger and the brokerage side of the business has grown more prominent.

02Tuần lễ xung quanh sự kiện

Cannes in the second week of September is past its August peak but still warm, and the festival is by far the largest thing happening in the city that week — larger, in terms of footfall along the Croisette, than anything since the film festival in May. The Vieux Port closes to its usual traffic while the show is built and struck, and the walk between the two venue sites along the Croisette becomes the town's main pedestrian corridor for the duration. Hotel demand rises across the city, though Cannes's stock is larger and less singularly stretched than Monaco's will be two weeks later, when part of the same trade crowd moves on to the Yacht Show.

03Thời điểm đến

The show runs Tuesday to Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday are the steadiest days for serious buyers and sea trials, before the weekend brings the largest public crowds; Sunday afternoon is busy but a reasonable time to see the fleet if the goal is looking rather than buying. Most exhibitors and trade visitors leave Sunday evening or Monday.

04Nơi lưu trú

The Croisette itself, between the two venues, is the obvious base and the most heavily booked; La Californie and the streets behind the Palais are a short walk away and somewhat calmer. Le Cannet and Mougins, inland and a short drive away, cost less and suit visitors with a car. Antibes and Golfe-Juan, toward Nice, are a common overflow choice during any large Cannes event. No hotel is named here as a recommendation, and the organizer publishes no accommodation rates.

05Tiếp cận và tiếp đón

The organizer sells day and multi-day visitor passes online, along with professional and press accreditation for qualified trade visitors and journalists. Boarding a specific yacht for a sea trial or a private viewing is arranged through the exhibiting broker or yard, not through the general ticket. The organizer publishes no separate VIP hospitality tier of the kind Monaco sells; prices for tickets are set on the organizer's own site and are not quoted here.

06Nơi diễn ra các hoạt động giao lưu

The Croisette itself is the show's public spine, and the walk between the Vieux Port and Port Canto passes the terraces of the Croisette's grand hotels, which fill with exhibitors and visitors between viewing sessions. The Palais des Festivals hosts the indoor side of the show and its press activity. Restaurants and bars around both ports are the evening focus, with the Vieux Port's own restaurant row taking the heavier trade-crowd traffic.

07Hướng dẫn di chuyển

Hàng không thương mạiNice Côte d'Azur (NCE) is roughly 30 kilometres and thirty to forty-five minutes from Cannes by road, with wide European and long-haul connections.
Đường sắtThe coastal main line links Cannes to Nice in under forty minutes and to Marseille in under two hours, with frequent trains throughout the day.
Xe hơiThe A8 autoroute serves Cannes directly; the Croisette and the streets around both venues carry heavy traffic during the show, and parking near the ports is limited and fills early.
hàng không tư nhânNice Côte d'Azur handles business aviation through dedicated terminals; Cannes-Mandelieu, closer still, takes smaller aircraft and sees heavy use during the festival.
Trực thăngOn-demand helicopter transfers between Nice and Cannes are commonly used during the show and should be booked well ahead.
Bến du thuyềnThe Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto are occupied by the show itself for its duration; visiting boats not exhibiting typically use Golfe-Juan, Antibes or Théoule-sur-Mer, all a short distance along the coast.

08Thông tin thực tiễn

Trang phụcPractical daytime dress suited to walking pontoons in the sun — flat, non-marking soles are useful on the docks. No dress code is published; evenings along the Croisette run smart-casual to smart at the hotel terraces and restaurants.
Thời tiếtMid-September in Cannes is typically warm and settled, with daytime temperatures in the low-to-mid twenties Celsius and the sea still comfortable; short, heavy Mediterranean storms are the main weather risk for an outdoor show. No station normals were sourced for this record.
Di chuyển trong khu vựcCannes is walkable between the two venues along the Croisette, though the distance and the crowds make it a twenty-minute walk rather than a quick one; a free or low-cost shuttle has run between sites in past editions and should be confirmed on the organizer's practical-information page each year.
Khách sạnCentral Cannes sells out for the festival, particularly along the Croisette; booking two to three months ahead is prudent, with more flexibility available in Le Cannet, Mougins and toward Antibes.
Nhà hàngRestaurants on both the Vieux Port and Port Canto sides fill through the week; reserve ahead for dinner, with lunch generally easier to find a table for.
Thời điểm đặt chỗHotels two to three months ahead for central Cannes. Tickets can be bought online in advance of the show. Restaurant tables a week or two ahead for the busiest evenings.
VéThe organizer sells single-day and multi-day visitor tickets online, along with professional and press accreditation for trade visitors and journalists; prices and categories are set on the organizer's own ticketing page and are not quoted here. Tickets admit the holder to both venue sites; boarding a specific yacht requires a separate appointment with its exhibitor.
Tiếp đónThe organizer's own hospitality is limited to ticketing tiers and accreditation; broader entertaining during the week is arranged privately by exhibitors, brokers and sponsors. The festival supports SNSM, France's national sea-rescue charity, as a public-facing partnership, which we note as published rather than as an endorsement.

09Lịch sử

The festival was founded in 1977 as the Salon de la Navigation de Plaisance, later known for years as the International Festival of Pleasure Boating in Cannes, before adopting its current name, Cannes Yachting Festival, in 2014. Its scale has grown steadily and unevenly: the organizer's own figures put the 2012 edition, its 35th, at 438 exhibitors and about 45,000 visitors, while 2013 brought some 450 boats afloat including close to 140 world premieres and yachts up to seventy meters, figures the 2026 edition has since exceeded. The show has had five commissioners across its history by the organizer's own account — Jacqueline Bourey from 1977 to 2000, Eric de Saintdo from 2001 to 2010, Renaud Jourdon from 2011 to 2012, Sylvie Ernoult from 2013 to 2025, and Constance Brément from 2026 — a leadership record unusually stable for an event of this scale. RX France, formerly Reed Exhibitions, has run it on behalf of the Fédération des Industries Nautiques, the French marine industry federation that owns the event.
