As etapas estão ordenadas por calendário. As datas apresentadas são a próxima edição de cada etapa; um estado tracejado significa que o organizador ainda não confirmou.
01Quem o acompanha
Buyers, editors, stylists and the photographers who work the shows; the houses' clients, who are invited to the shows and the dinners around them; the models, the agencies and the production trade; and, since the 2010s, a large public that follows the month from the street outside the venues and online. It is a professional circuit with a fixed order and a very public face. The couture shows in Paris in January and July are the smaller and more concentrated version of it.
02Por que estes eventos se conectam
The wholesale calendar connects them: buyers need to see New York, London, Milan and Paris in order, twice a year, to write orders for the coming season, so the four cities have run consecutively in that order for decades, in February and March for autumn collections and in September and October for spring. The men's shows in January and June, and the couture shows in January and July, follow the same logic on a smaller circuit through Florence, Milan and Paris. The Met Gala in May and the awards in November and December are the industry's ceremonies rather than its markets.

03A progressão típica
Pitti Uomo in Florence in the second week of January, Milan's men's shows straight after, Paris men's the following week, then the couture shows in Paris in the last week of January. The women's autumn shows run New York (second week of February), London, Milan and Paris through the first week of March. The Met Gala on the first Monday of May. Pitti, Milan and Paris men's again in June, couture in the first week of July. New York Fashion Week in the second week of September, London the third, Milan the fourth, Paris into the first week of October. The CFDA Awards in New York in November and the Fashion Awards in London in early December close the year.
04Geografia
Four capitals in a fixed order, New York, London, Milan and Paris, with Florence as the men's prologue. The shows are held across each city rather than in one venue, so the circuit's geography within each is a matter of that season's schedule, published a few weeks ahead by the national councils.
05Calendário sugerido
Paris in the first week of October is the circuit's peak and the one week that draws every part of the industry; the couture week in early July is the most concentrated and, for a non-professional, the most watchable from outside. Milan's September week is the one that overlaps the Monaco Yacht Show for those who follow both. Shows are by invitation; the streets outside, the exhibitions the houses open during the week and the city's own events are how the public follows it.
06Sobreposições relevantes
New York Fashion Week's start coincides with the US Open's second week; Milan's with the Monaco Yacht Show, the UN General Assembly week and the Régates Royales in Cannes; Paris's with Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the Arc de Triomphe weekend and the Singapore Grand Prix. The couture shows in July fall inside Wimbledon and beside Henley; the January couture week overlaps the Hahnenkamm and Davos. The Met Gala shares its week with the Kentucky Derby, the Miami Grand Prix and Frieze New York.
07Para onde as pessoas vão depois
After Paris in October, the industry stays in Paris for Art Basel Paris the week after or crosses to London for Frieze. After Paris in March, to the Riviera's early season or to New York for May. After the couture in July, to the coast.
