How to read a date on this site

Confirmed, Expected, Date pending, Historical pattern: what each label means and how much to trust it.

Por Global Social Season editors · 6 September 2026 · actualizado 10 September 2026

Every dated entry on this site carries a status, because the difference between a date an organizer has published and a date we have projected from habit is the difference between booking a flight and waiting a month. Confirmed means the organizer or the sport's governing body has published exactly these dates; the source is linked beside them and the day we last checked is shown. Expected means the dates have not been announced and we have projected them from the event's fixed pattern — the same week, the same weekday alignment as last year — and flagged them as an estimate. Date pending means even the pattern is not reliable enough to estimate, so only the usual month is stated. Historical pattern is used for events whose organizers publish little in advance; the dates come from previous editions. Completed and Cancelled mean what they say.

Treat Expected as a planning date and Confirmed as a booking date. Editors receive a queue of every Expected date inside 120 days and re-check it; when an organizer publishes, the row changes status and the change is logged. The calendar feeds carry the status too, so an Expected date arrives in your calendar marked tentative.

Two rules govern the projections. The first is the fifty-two-week rule: an Expected edition is placed exactly fifty-two weeks after the last known one, so that a race that runs Friday to Sunday stays on Friday to Sunday and a fair that opens on a Wednesday still opens on a Wednesday. The second is that a pattern the organizer has broken is not trusted again until it is confirmed: when a festival moves from January to August, as one on this site did, its next edition is Date pending until the organizer speaks. Completed editions are never deleted. They are what the destination pages draw on for the month-by-month graphs, and they are how the site knows that an event's usual week is its usual week rather than a single year's accident. When two official sources disagree, the row carries the more specific one and a note says what the other one claimed.
