A week in which visiting chefs take over Saint-Barthélemy's best kitchens, one chef per restaurant, at the opening of the island's season.
The structure is the whole idea. Each November the island's tourism committee invites a small group of chefs — mostly French, and mostly from restaurants with stars — to come to Saint-Barthélemy and cook for a week in residence at one of the island's hotels or restaurants. The guest works alongside the house's own executive chef, and what appears on the table is a collaboration rather than a guest appearance. In the twelfth edition, in November 2025, there were five guest chefs placed in five establishments; the thirteenth, in November 2026, is described as larger.
There is no festival site, no tent and no central box office. You book the restaurant that is hosting the chef you want to eat with, directly, exactly as you would book dinner there in any other week — the organizer's own instruction is to contact the restaurant. That is what makes the festival unusual among food festivals: it has almost no infrastructure of its own, and its entire mechanism is the island's existing dining rooms, temporarily rearranged.
The timing is deliberate. Early November is the hinge of the Saint-Barth year, when the hotels reopen after the low season and before the Christmas and New Year peak. The festival was conceived as the event that marks that opening, and it is presented by the tourism committee as an argument for the island as a gastronomic destination rather than only a winter one.
01Perché è rilevante
Saint-Barthélemy has an unusual density of serious kitchens for an island of under 11,000 people, and the Gourmet Festival is how it makes that visible. Commercially, the point is the shoulder season: a reason to come in November, when the weather is already good, the rates have not reached their December level and the island is not full. In our reading the festival's real distinction is its modesty of format — nothing is staged, nothing is built, and the experience is a dinner reservation rather than an event pass. That also sets the ceiling on it: with a handful of restaurants and small dining rooms, the total number of seats across the week is tiny, and the festival's influence is on the island's reputation rather than on the wider food world.
02La settimana intorno all'evento
November on Saint-Barthélemy is the quiet, good-weather end of the year: the hotels and restaurants that closed for September and October are back open, the water is warm, and the island is busy without being crowded. The festival adds a few dozen people a night to specific dining rooms rather than filling the island, so the practical effect is on restaurant availability rather than on Gustavia. The rest of the island's November programme runs close behind — an art week and the Cata Cup regatta follow within the fortnight — which makes the second half of the month busier than the first.
03Quando arrivare
Whenever the chef you want to eat with is cooking: the guest chefs are in residence for part of the week rather than all of it, and the programme is published ahead so you can build a trip around two or three dinners. Five nights is the practical minimum given the flight connections. The island rewards a longer stay in November than the festival itself requires.
04Dove alloggiare
Gustavia puts you closest to the restaurants in town and to the harbour, and is the only part of the island where walking to dinner is realistic. Grand-Cul-de-Sac and Saint-Jean hold much of the hotel supply and several of the host kitchens. Flamands and the Anse des Cayes are quieter and require a car for everything. Villas are the dominant accommodation on the island and are rented by the week, which suits the festival's rhythm; the hotels are small and reopen for the season shortly before the festival begins.
05Accesso e ospitalità
There is no festival ticket and no pass. Every dinner, lunch and event is booked directly with the host restaurant or hotel, at that establishment's own price, which the organizer does not publish centrally — and no price is quoted here. The 2026 edition is reported to add masterclasses, a gastronomic village and competitions, which would be the first elements with their own admission; their arrangements had not been published when this record was written. The organizer publishes the guest-chef list and their host establishments in advance, and that list is the booking guide. Press contact runs through the tourism committee.
06Dove si svolge l'attività sociale
Gustavia's harbourfront restaurants and the bars around the Quai de la République carry the evenings in town; the hotel terraces at Grand-Cul-de-Sac and the beach restaurants at Saint-Jean, Flamands and Gouverneur carry the days. The shops of Gustavia and the Carré d'Or are open through the season. Nothing about the festival is staged in public, so the social life of the week is simply the island's own, with fuller dining rooms.

08Aspetti pratici
09Storia
The first edition was held in 2013 under the name Taste of St Barth and was created by the island's Territorial Tourism Committee, which still runs it. The guest-chef-in-residence format has been constant since. Over the following decade the festival built a roster of returning chefs — the organizer's own materials describe a group of ambassador chefs who come back — and it established November as the opening of the island's calendar rather than a dead month. Saint-Barthélemy's tourism economy was interrupted by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 and rebuilt over the following years; the festival's edition count runs one behind the number of calendar years since 2013, which suggests a missed edition, though we did not verify which year or why.
10Chi è presente
Island residents, who the organizer treats as part of the intended audience; returning visitors who come for November specifically; villa and hotel guests opening the season; French food press; and the guest chefs and their brigades alongside the island's own kitchen teams. This is not a trade event and there is no delegate population.

| 2027 · 13th edition | · 13th edition | PrevistoNot yet announced. Projected from the 2026 dates (November 9–15); the organizer's pattern usually holds. |
| 2027 · 14th edition | · 14th edition | Data da definireNot announced, and the window moves too much to estimate to a day. The festival is reliably in the first half of November — the twelfth edition ran 4 to 9 November 2025 and the thirteenth runs 9 to 15 November 2026 — but the start date shifted by five days and the length from six days to seven between those two editions, so no pattern can be projected. The 1 November placeholder marks the month only. |
| 2026 · 13th edition | · 13th edition | ConfermatoThe Comité Territorial de Tourisme de Saint-Barthélemy, which created and runs the festival, lists the St Barts Gourmet Festival for 9 to 15 November on its own events calendar, and Saint-Barth hotel and villa operators describe the 2026 event as the thirteenth edition running 9 to 15 November. The festival's own site was under maintenance in September 2026 with the note 'Mise à jour du site en cours - Programme 2026', so the guest-chef list was not published. Reporting around the edition describes a wider programme than previous years, with signature lunches and dinners, masterclasses, a gastronomic village and competitions; that programme was not confirmed from an organizer page. |
