Formula 1's original night race, run under floodlight on public roads around Marina Bay since 2008 and contracted through 2028.

Singapore's Grand Prix is run in the dark on 4.927 kilometers of city road around Marina Bay, under a projector array built to light the surface without dazzling drivers. It was the first night race Formula 1 held, staged in 2008 so European audiences could watch in the early evening, and the arrangement has been copied since without being improved on. The circuit passes the Padang and the colonial civic district, crosses the Anderson Bridge and runs back around the Marina Bay Sands complex; sixty-two laps take close to two hours in heat that does not drop after sunset.
The layout changed in 2023, when the sequence at turns sixteen to nineteen was removed for the construction of NS Square and replaced by a long flat-out section, cutting lap times by roughly ten seconds. In 2026 the meeting ran as a sprint weekend.
Around the racing, Singapore built a festival inside the circuit walls, with concert stages, food halls and open zones connected by walkways.
01Perché è rilevante
Singapore invented the template that Miami, Las Vegas and Jeddah now work from: a street race in a city center, at night, sold as an entertainment weekend, with a national tourism agency as a partner rather than a bystander. Its autumn timing puts it among a dense regional programme of finance conferences, which is why hotel pressure extends well beyond ticket holders. In our reading it is the best-run event of its type on the calendar, and the one where the non-racing programme is worth the ticket rather than an excuse for it.
02La settimana intorno all'evento
Road closures around Marina Bay build through the preceding fortnight and become total in the civic district by Thursday. Singapore handles this better than most host cities: the MRT runs extended hours, stations inside the circuit stay open, and routing through the malls and underground links keeps the district usable. Hotels around the bay and Orchard Road fill with race visitors and the regional business traffic that schedules itself into the same days.
03Quando arrivare
Arrive Wednesday or Thursday: practice begins Friday, the heat and the time difference each take a day to absorb, and Thursday evening is the last comfortable moment to move around the civic district. Stay through Monday.
04Dove alloggiare
Marina Bay is the circuit-side choice, putting the track below the window and the concert stages within walking distance, at the price of being inside the closure. The Civic District and Bras Basah are quieter and still walkable, Orchard Road is the largest pool of rooms ten minutes away by MRT, and Robertson Quay and Tanjong Pagar suit visitors who want restaurants rather than proximity.
05Accesso e ospitalità
The promoter sells a zoned structure around the bay: walkabout tickets allowing movement between viewing areas and entertainment zones, reserved grandstand seats in each zone, premium walkabout products, trackside hospitality suites, and Formula 1's Paddock Club. The concert programme has long been included with race tickets rather than sold separately, which is the most distinctive thing about the access model. The event has generally remained purchasable in the months before the race.
06Dove si svolge l'attività sociale
Inside the circuit, the concert stages and zone plazas hold the public evening. Outside it, the rooftop bars along Marina Bay are the visible center of the week, with the restaurants and clubs of Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay, the cocktail bars of Tanjong Pagar and Amoy Street, and Dempsey Hill for quieter dinners. Almost all of it is public or ticketed.

08Aspetti pratici
09Storia
Singapore held a Grand Prix at Thomson Road under Formula Libre rules between 1966 and 1973, on a public-road circuit remembered for its danger. The modern race is a different project: conceived in the mid-2000s with government backing, promoted by Singapore GP Pte Ltd, and first run in September 2008 as Formula 1's first night event. Its opening edition was later overshadowed by a race-fixing scandal that produced one of the sport's largest governance controversies. The contract was renewed in January 2022 to run through 2028.
10Chi è presente
Regional followers from across Southeast Asia, Australia and Japan; the finance, private banking and technology industries that use Singapore as a base; global sponsors running Asian activations; expatriate residents; and a large local audience on walkabout tickets who come as much for the concerts.

| 2027 | Data da definireThe 2027 Formula 1 calendar had not been published as of 6 September 2026 and the promoter's site carried no 2027 dates. No reliable pattern exists to estimate from: the race has drifted from mid-September in 2023 and 2024 to early October in 2025 and the second weekend of October in 2026, following the calendar's regional reordering rather than a fixed date. October is given as the typical month. Singapore's contract with Formula 1 runs to 2028, so an edition is expected. | |
| 2026 | ConfermatoRound 17 of the 2026 Formula 1 season and a sprint weekend, per Formula 1's official calendar, with the race on Sunday 11 October. |
