A five-day concours and garden party on the lawns of Blenheim Palace, closing the British motoring summer.
Salon Privé occupies the south lawns of Blenheim Palace for five days at the turn of August and September. The concours itself runs on the Wednesday and Thursday, when about seventy invited cars are judged across a dozen classes assembled around annual themes — the 2026 edition covered the golden age of motoring, eighty years of Bristol, a century of Carrozzeria Touring, sixty years of the Lamborghini Miura and a hypercar class, among others. Friday is billed as Ladies' Day, and the weekend turns over to car clubs and supercars, which brings a much larger and younger crowd onto the same lawns.
The format is a garden party with cars in it rather than a show with catering attached. Admission includes access to the palace grounds and the displays; the organizer sells hospitality in two pavilions, the Spencer Pavilion on the concours days and the Glass House across all five. Alongside the judging sit a sale-by-display element, a single-color themed collection each year, manufacturer debuts, and a shopping and dining village. Aviva Private Clients holds the title sponsorship.
A visitor gets a different event depending on the day. Wednesday and Thursday are the collectors' days, quieter and more formal, with the judged field on the grass in front of Vanbrugh's palace. Saturday and Sunday are loud and crowded and very good fun, with hundreds of club cars parked across the park.
01Perché è rilevante
Salon Privé is the most significant judged concours in Britain that is genuinely open to the public, and it closes the British motoring summer that begins at Goodwood in the spring. Its setting does a great deal of the work: Blenheim is a World Heritage Site and the lawns give the cars a backdrop nothing else in the UK calendar can match.
In our reading, its real achievement is the five-day structure. Very few concours have managed to run a serious judged competition and a mass-market supercar weekend on the same site without one damaging the other, and the separation by day is the reason it works. For manufacturers it has become a reliable British launch platform, which is why several debuts are held back for the Wednesday.
02La settimana intorno all'evento
Blenheim sits at Woodstock, eight miles northwest of Oxford, and the event's effect is local rather than regional. The A44 into Woodstock queues in the mornings and after the Sunday close; the village's pubs and hotels are full for the week; and Oxford, twenty minutes away, absorbs most visitors without noticing. Blenheim's own park and gardens remain open to the public alongside the event on some days, and the palace itself is worth the separate ticket. In the wider calendar this week sits between Monterey and the Goodwood Revival, and a good deal of the same trade moves through all three.
03Quando arrivare
Choose the day rather than the week. Wednesday and Thursday are for the concours, the debuts and the collecting crowd, and are the calmer days. Friday is a middle ground. Saturday and Sunday are for the car clubs and supercars and are much busier. Most visitors come for one day; anyone attending the concours properly should take two and stay overnight in Woodstock or Oxford.
04Dove alloggiare
Woodstock itself, at the palace gate, is the shortest walk and has a handful of coaching inns that fill for the week. Oxford, twenty minutes south, is the practical base with real hotel capacity, restaurants and a rail link to London. The Cotswold villages north and west of Blenheim — Charlbury, Burford, Chipping Norton — are the pleasant option and require driving. London is close enough that a day trip works: Oxford is an hour by train from Paddington or Marylebone, with a bus or taxi onward.
05Accesso e ospitalità
Salon Privé is a public ticketed event with no invitation requirement for visitors. The organizer sells day entry tickets covering access from mid-morning to late afternoon with parking included, and lists a starting price of £60 on its own site. Two hospitality options are published: the Spencer Pavilion, available on the concours days from Wednesday to Friday, and the Glass House, available on all five days, both with premium parking. Car club members have their own ticket category for the weekend days. Entering a car in the concours is by application and selection; club display places are booked through participating clubs.
06Dove si svolge l'attività sociale
The lawns themselves, the dining village and the two hospitality pavilions are where the day happens; there is no separate social program off site. In the evenings Woodstock's pubs and the hotel bars at the palace gate are the immediate options, and Oxford's restaurants take the rest. The concours days have a lunch-and-champagne rhythm that runs from late morning to the awards in the afternoon.

08Aspetti pratici
09Storia
The event was founded in 2006 and spent its early years at the Hurlingham Club in southwest London, then moved to Syon Park before settling at Blenheim Palace in 2015. The change of venue transformed it: the scale of the Blenheim lawns allowed the concours field, the club displays and the hospitality to coexist, and the event expanded from a compact two-day affair into the current five days. Its 2026 running was the twenty-first. The organizer has since added a spring event in London and a set of associated activities including a road tour, building the brand out from the single September fixture.
10Chi è presente
British and European collectors and their families on the concours days; manufacturer and importer teams presenting debuts; dealers, specialists and marque clubs; luxury brand exhibitors; and, at the weekend, a very large enthusiast and family audience drawn by the supercar and club displays. The concours days skew older and more formal; the weekend is broad and young.
