Two weeks of grass-court tennis at a private London club, and the traditional opening of the English summer season.
Queen's is a members' club on a quiet street in West Kensington that opens to the public for two weeks a year. The grass courts sit behind red brick and ivy a few minutes from two Underground stations, the site can be crossed in three minutes, and the event has a scale no other tournament of this standing retains. The Lawn Tennis Association runs it: a WTA 500 with a 28-player draw in the first week, then an ATP 500 with 32 players in the second.
With small draws and a compact site, a single ground ticket puts you within a few metres of players who at Wimbledon are visible only across a stadium. Practice courts are open and the members' lawns become public terraces. Women's professional tennis returned to the club in 2025 after fifty years, which doubled the event; the men's week remains the better attended.
01Pourquoi c'est important
Queen's opens the British summer. Grass-court tennis begins here, and so, in practice, does the English season: the fortnight runs into Royal Ascot, and Wimbledon, Henley and Goodwood follow within weeks. Its second claim is access. In our reading it is the best-value week of championship tennis in Britain, and the men's final Sunday is one of the few genuinely intimate finals in the professional game.
02La semaine environnante
Mid-June is the densest fortnight in the London calendar and Queen's sits in the middle of it.
The tournament's own surrounding programme is confined to the club: sponsor marquees on the lawns, the members' terraces, and a small hospitality village.
03Quand arriver
For the men's week, Tuesday and Wednesday deliver the most tennis: full first-round programmes across three or four courts, and the players closest to the public.
04Où séjourner
West Kensington and Barons Court have almost no hotel stock, so the practical bases are Kensington and Earl's Court, ten minutes away by Underground and the cheapest reasonable option; Chelsea and South Kensington, which put you in the right part of London for the evenings; and Mayfair or Knightsbridge for anyone combining Queen's with the rest of the season.
05Accès et hospitalité
The LTA sells tickets through its own platform. Holders of a free LTA Advantage account get advance notice and priority access before general sale, and the association's page for the 2027 edition states only that dates are to be confirmed and that tickets will go on sale nearer the event.
06Où se déroule l'activité sociale
The lawns beside the centre court are the tournament's public social space and the reason many people buy a ticket; there is a champagne and food terrace along one side and a run of bars under the trees.

08Informations pratiques
09Historique
The tournament began in 1881 as the London Athletic Club Tournament at Stamford Bridge in Fulham and moved to The Queen's Club in 1890, taking its present name in 1977.
10Qui s'y trouve
A London crowd: club members and their guests, corporate hospitality from the City and the West End, west London residents who treat it as a local fixture, and a modest international contingent of tennis followers building a British grass-court trip toward Wimbledon.
