Paris Photo is the only fair in the world where the photographic trade gathers at scale, and it has held that position for nearly thirty years. It fills the Grand Palais for four days in November with galleries, publishers and dealers covering the whole medium: nineteenth-century processes, mid-century reportage, fashion and studio work, contemporary conceptual photography and, increasingly, work made with digital and generative tools. The fair is organized as a main gallery sector with smaller curated strands: a section for younger galleries, a books and publishers area that is one of the most heavily used parts of the fair, a digital sector, and thematic itineraries through the halls. Prizes for photobooks and individual projects are awarded during the run. Admission runs from one in the afternoon until eight, which leaves the mornings free for the city's exhibitions.

01لماذا يهم

Photography's market is smaller and more specialized than the art market generally, and it has one annual meeting point rather than several. Paris Photo is that point: the fair where the medium's dealers, curators, publishers, collectors and prize juries are in one room, and where a photobook or a young photographer's first showing can change a career.

Our reading is that its move back into the restored Grand Palais gave it a second life. The temporary venues it used during the renovation diminished it, and a glass-roofed hall built for spectacle suits a medium that is often shown small and badly.

02الأسبوع المحيط به

November is Paris's photography month and the fair is the centre of it rather than the whole. Polycopies, the photobook event held on a barge moored on the Seine, is the week's most enjoyable fixture and is free; Approche and Offprint at the Beaux-Arts cover the medium's edges, and Photo Saint-Germain runs a festival of exhibitions across the Left Bank through the month. The institutions program to it: the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in the Marais, the Jeu de Paume, the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson and the Bibliothèque nationale de France all schedule photography exhibitions into November, and the Paris auction houses hold photography sales with free previews. Paris in November is low season, so the week raises rates from a modest base.

03موعد الوصول

Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. Because the fair opens at one in the afternoon, the sensible pattern is museums and Left Bank galleries in the morning and the Grand Palais from mid-afternoon into the evening. Two days covers the fair and Polycopies properly; a third opens up the Marais and Saint-Germain exhibitions.

04أماكن الإقامة

Saint-Germain in the 6th is the right base for this fair specifically, because Photo Saint-Germain and most of the photographic bookshops and galleries are there, and the walk across the river takes twenty-five minutes. The 8th around the Champs-Élysées is closest to the fair and the most expensive. The Marais puts the Maison Européenne de la Photographie at the door. November availability in Paris is the best of any month in this batch.

05الوصول والضيافة

Tickets are sold on the fair's website and at the Grand Palais, with published opening hours of 1pm to 8pm and 7pm on the Sunday. The organizer publishes prices each year and they are not reproduced here. A vernissage precedes the public run on the fair's usual pattern, by invitation rather than sold. The talks and signing programme is included with admission, and the book sector's signings, where photographers sign at publishers' stands, are the most accessible thing at the fair. Polycopies on the Seine is free and open to anyone.

06مواضع النشاط الاجتماعي

The Grand Palais nave is the daytime meeting place, and because the fair opens late the transition from fair to dinner is immediate rather than staged. The book sector's signing tables are where most of the week's conversations start. In the evening the movement is across the river to Saint-Germain, where the galleries and bookshops around the Rue de Seine and the Rue Mazarine hold openings. The Polycopies barge, moored within walking distance of the fair, is the reliable open-door gathering of the week.

07كيفية الوصول

الطيران التجاريCharles de Gaulle (CDG) 45 minutes to an hour from the 8th by road, or about 35 minutes on the RER B with a change. Orly (ORY) is closer, with Metro line 14 direct into the centre. Beauvais serves low-cost carriers.
قطارEurostar from London St Pancras to Gare du Nord in about two and a quarter hours, with TGV services from Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne, Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Lyon, Marseille and Bordeaux. Champs-Élysées-Clémenceau and Franklin D. Roosevelt on Metro lines 1, 9 and 13 and Invalides on RER C all serve the Grand Palais.
سيارةCentral Paris has a low-emission zone, the quays congest and parking near the Grand Palais is minimal. The Metro is faster for everything the week involves.
الطيران الخاصParis-Le Bourget, about 25 minutes north of the centre outside peak traffic, with Toussus-le-Noble and Pontoise for smaller aircraft. November pressure is light.
المروحيةHeliport de Paris-Issy-les-Moulineaux is the only helicopter facility inside the city, with noise restrictions limiting its use.

08الجوانب العملية

الزي الرسميLess formal than Art Basel Paris three weeks earlier and noticeably more casual than the October fair week generally. Warm layers and a coat: November in Paris is cold and wet and the fair runs into the evening. Comfortable shoes for the Grand Palais's long nave.
الطقسMid-November in Paris is cold and often wet, with daytime highs typically around ten Celsius, nights near five, and daylight ending before 5.30pm. The fair's afternoon-to-evening hours mean most of a visit happens after dark. Description is qualitative; no station normals were sourced.
التنقل والتوجهMetro lines 1, 9 and 13 stop within a few minutes' walk of the Grand Palais and RER C at Invalides is a short walk across the bridge. Because the fair closes at eight, taxis and ride-hailing on the Avenue Winston Churchill are slow at closing; walking to Concorde or Franklin D. Roosevelt is quicker. The Polycopies barge is a fifteen-minute walk along the river.
الفنادقNovember is one of Paris's quieter months and hotel availability during Paris Photo is comfortable by the standards of any other fair in this batch. Rates rise modestly in the 6th, 7th and 8th. Booking two to three weeks ahead is generally sufficient.
المطاعمSaint-Germain and the 8th tighten during the week and publishers and galleries take private rooms for signings and dinners, but Paris in November is not otherwise busy and brasseries take walk-ins late. Two weeks ahead covers most reservations.
توقيت الحجزHotels two to three weeks ahead. Restaurants one to two weeks. Fair tickets are sold online in advance and at the Grand Palais; the Saturday is the busiest day.
التذاكرDay tickets are sold on parisphoto.com and at the Grand Palais, with hours published as 1pm to 8pm and 7pm on the Sunday. The organizer publishes prices each edition and they are not reproduced here. The talks and book-signing programme is included with admission. Polycopies on the Seine, Photo Saint-Germain's gallery exhibitions and the auction house photography previews during the same week are all free.
الضيافةThe fair's vernissage precedes the public run and is by invitation from the organizer and from exhibiting galleries rather than sold; the 2026 arrangements were not published on the pages read for this record and should be confirmed. On-site hospitality is partner-run and modest. The week's wider programme belongs to publishers, galleries and institutions and is largely open: the book signings inside the fair and the Polycopies barge outside it are the most accessible parts of the whole photography season.

09التاريخ

Paris Photo was founded in 1997 at the Carrousel du Louvre and moved to the Grand Palais in 2011, where it grew into the medium's dominant fair. It ran a Los Angeles edition at Paramount Studios from 2013 to 2017, which closed. During the Grand Palais restoration it used the Grand Palais Éphémère on the Champ de Mars, returning once the building reopened. The fair is owned by RX France, which distinguishes it from the dealer-founded and gallery-owned fairs elsewhere on this circuit.

10من يتواجد هناك

Photography collectors, who are a distinct and more specialized group than the general art market's; curators from photography departments and dedicated institutions across Europe and North America; publishers, printers and book dealers, in unusual numbers because of the book sector; photographers themselves, who attend this fair more than any other; prize juries; and a large Parisian public, since photography is the most publicly accessible of the collecting fields.
