The men's season-ending championship: eight players, round-robin groups, an indoor arena in Turin in November.
The ATP Finals close the men's season. Only eight singles players and eight doubles teams qualify, drawn from the year's results rather than from a draw, and they are split into two groups of four for three round-robin matches each before knockout semifinals and a final. Nobody is eliminated on a single loss, which makes it the only week where the best players are guaranteed to meet each other repeatedly.
Since 2021 it has been played at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, a 12,000-seat indoor hall built for the 2006 Winter Olympics. The court is a fast indoor hard court lit theatrically, and the presentation owes more to boxing than to tennis. Each day has an afternoon and an evening session, each containing one doubles and one singles match, so a single ticket delivers a fixed programme. There are no outside courts and no grounds to wander.
01Pourquoi c'est important
This is the last event of the men's year and the only one that guarantees the best against the best across a week. In our reading, the interesting thing about the Finals is how much of their weight is borrowed: the format is compelling, the venue is ordinary, and the event's standing depends on the season that precedes it rather than on anything about the week itself.
02La semaine environnante
Turin in the second half of November is cold, often foggy, and at its most atmospheric.
The tournament's own surrounding activity is contained in the arena and in the Lingotto complex beside it, with sponsor areas, a fan village and the players' facilities.
03Quand arriver
The round-robin days are the value: two matches per session, all eight players in action across the first four days, and tickets more obtainable than for the weekend.
04Où séjourner
The historic center around Piazza Castello, Via Roma and Piazza San Carlo is where to be: it is fifteen minutes from the arena by metro, and Turin's arcaded streets, cafes and restaurants are the reason to spend the week here rather than commuting.
05Accès et hospitalité
Tickets are sold through the tournament's official site and its ticketing partner, by session rather than by day: an afternoon session and an evening session each day, each containing one doubles and one singles match. Multi-session and full-tournament packages are offered and are the usual route for buyers who want the same seat throughout.
06Où se déroule l'activité sociale
Inside, the arena's concourse and the fan village at Lingotto are the public spaces.

09Historique
The season-ending championship was first played in 1970 in Tokyo as the Masters Grand Prix and has moved almost continuously since: Barcelona, Boston, Melbourne, Stockholm, Houston, New York's Madison Square Garden for more than a decade, then Frankfurt, Hanover, Lisbon, Sydney, Shanghai, and London's O2 Arena from 2009 to 2020.
10Qui s'y trouve
Predominantly Italian, and passionately so since the rise of the current generation of Italian players, with a strong contingent from Milan and the north; alongside them, the tour's own sponsors and partners, corporate hospitality from Italian industry and finance, and an international tennis-following minority that treats the week as the season's closing fixture.
