The ATP Finals close the men's season. Only eight singles players and eight doubles teams qualify, drawn from the year's results rather than from a draw, and they are split into two groups of four for three round-robin matches each before knockout semifinals and a final. Nobody is eliminated on a single loss, which makes it the only week where the best players are guaranteed to meet each other repeatedly.

Since 2021 it has been played at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, a 12,000-seat indoor hall built for the 2006 Winter Olympics. The court is a fast indoor hard court lit theatrically, and the presentation owes more to boxing than to tennis. Each day has an afternoon and an evening session, each containing one doubles and one singles match, so a single ticket delivers a fixed programme. There are no outside courts and no grounds to wander.

01Por qué es relevante

This is the last event of the men's year and the only one that guarantees the best against the best across a week. In our reading, the interesting thing about the Finals is how much of their weight is borrowed: the format is compelling, the venue is ordinary, and the event's standing depends on the season that precedes it rather than on anything about the week itself.

02La semana en torno al evento

Turin in the second half of November is cold, often foggy, and at its most atmospheric.

The tournament's own surrounding activity is contained in the arena and in the Lingotto complex beside it, with sponsor areas, a fan village and the players' facilities.

03Cuándo llegar

The round-robin days are the value: two matches per session, all eight players in action across the first four days, and tickets more obtainable than for the weekend.

04Dónde alojarse

The historic center around Piazza Castello, Via Roma and Piazza San Carlo is where to be: it is fifteen minutes from the arena by metro, and Turin's arcaded streets, cafes and restaurants are the reason to spend the week here rather than commuting.

05Acceso y hospitalidad

Tickets are sold through the tournament's official site and its ticketing partner, by session rather than by day: an afternoon session and an evening session each day, each containing one doubles and one singles match. Multi-session and full-tournament packages are offered and are the usual route for buyers who want the same seat throughout.

06Dónde tiene lugar la actividad social

Inside, the arena's concourse and the fan village at Lingotto are the public spaces.

07Cómo llegar

Aviación comercialTurin Caselle is about thirty minutes from the centre with limited international service; Milan Malpensa and Linate are ninety minutes to two hours.
FerroviarioItalian high-speed rail puts Milan under an hour and Rome about four, with a direct TGV to Paris. The metro runs from both stations to Lingotto.
AutomóvilParking at the Lingotto complex is extensive, but Turin's restricted-traffic zones and the metro make driving unnecessary.
Aviación privadaTurin Caselle handles business aviation; Milan Linate is the larger alternative and takes most inbound corporate traffic.
HelicópteroNo landing at the venue and no scheduled service; charter operates from Caselle.

08Aspectos prácticos

VestimentaNorthern Italy in November: overcoats, scarves and proper shoes. The arena is warm and the city is not.
ClimaMid to late November in Turin typically brings daily highs around 9 to 11C, roughly 48 to 52F, with lows near 2 to 4C, frequent fog in the Po valley and a real chance of rain.
Cómo desplazarseThe metro from the center to Lingotto is quick and runs late during the tournament.
HotelesTurin is a small hotel market and the Finals fill it. Rooms in the center for the final weekend go months ahead, and rates roughly double for the week.
RestaurantesThe center's restaurants are fully booked every evening of the tournament and take reservations weeks ahead during the week. Turin's historic cafes and aperitivo bars absorb the overflow without reservations.
Momento de la reservaSession tickets go on sale in the months before the event and the weekend sells out quickly; midweek remains available much later.
EntradasSold by session, with an afternoon and an evening session each day, each containing one doubles and one singles match. Multi-session and full-tournament packages are available.
HospitalidadThe organizer sells official hospitality comprising club seats, boxes and restaurant packages within the arena and the adjoining Lingotto complex. No public tariff is published; packages are quoted on application.

09Historia

The season-ending championship was first played in 1970 in Tokyo as the Masters Grand Prix and has moved almost continuously since: Barcelona, Boston, Melbourne, Stockholm, Houston, New York's Madison Square Garden for more than a decade, then Frankfurt, Hanover, Lisbon, Sydney, Shanghai, and London's O2 Arena from 2009 to 2020.

10Quién está ahí

Predominantly Italian, and passionately so since the rise of the current generation of Italian players, with a strong contingent from Milan and the north; alongside them, the tour's own sponsors and partners, corporate hospitality from Italian industry and finance, and an international tennis-following minority that treats the week as the season's closing fixture.
