The Naples Winter Wine Festival is a fundraising machine dressed as a wine weekend, and it is unusually open about both halves of that description. It was created in 2001 by the organization now called the Naples Children Foundation, whose trustees both host the festival and underwrite its costs, and every dollar the weekend raises goes to children's services in Collier County. The foundation states that it has helped 420,000 vulnerable children through the non-profits it funds; the 2026 weekend alone raised $30 million, and the foundation granted more than $30.6 million to close to fifty organizations two months later.
The structure is fixed. Friday morning is Meet the Kids Day, a tour and luncheon at which guests visit the funded programmes before they are asked for anything — a deliberate sequencing that is the festival's signature. Friday afternoon is the lot room, where the auction items are laid out. Friday evening is the Vintner Dinners: small dinners in private Naples homes, each hosted by a festival trustee with a guest chef and a guest vintner, and each guest is allocated to one. Saturday is the live auction under a tent at The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón, running from late morning to five, followed by an evening called Wine Down. Sunday is a Champagne brunch and everybody goes home.
Access is simple and strict. Tickets are sold for the whole festival only — the organizer states plainly that 'it is not possible to buy tickets to individual events' — for approximately 650 guests, and the foundation publishes the prices: $17,500 for a Double Magnum package covering two people and $40,000 for a Jeroboam covering four. The festival says tickets often sell out before the RSVP deadline. One element is genuinely open to anyone: the online auction, which runs for about ten days around the weekend and which the organizer states everyone is invited to bid in.
01Waarom het relevant is
Among American charity auctions this is the one with the clearest line between the evening and the outcome: a single county, a named foundation, an audited grant round two months later, and a published figure at both ends. The weekend has repeatedly been the largest charity wine auction in the United States by money raised, and the foundation's cumulative total since 2001 is reported to exceed $336 million. In our reading what makes the model work is the order of the programme. Putting the site visits on Friday morning, before the lot room and before the auction, is a fundraising decision as much as a hospitality one, and it is the reason the Saturday numbers behave the way they do. For a reader of this calendar, the practical note is that this is one of the very few events in the philanthropy category with published prices and a published capacity, which makes it legible in a way that a gala with an invitation list is not.
02De week eromheen
Late January is the front of the Naples season and the festival is its anchor. The Ritz-Carlton at Tiburón is given over to the auction build from midweek, and the restaurants and clubs of Old Naples, Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South are at their busiest of the year. Much of the weekend happens out of sight, in private houses on the Friday evening, so the public face of the festival is smaller than the money suggests. The online auction and the foundation's grant announcements in March are the parts of it that reach anyone who did not attend.
03Wanneer aan te komen
Thursday, if you hold a ticket: The Vintage Cellar tasting is that day and Meet the Kids Day starts at nine on the Friday morning. Sunday's brunch finishes early in the afternoon and Monday departures are easier than Sunday evening ones out of Southwest Florida. Anyone not attending should consider the following week, when Naples is still in full season and the hotel supply is no longer committed.
04Waar te verblijven
The Ritz-Carlton at Tiburón is the festival's own base and where the shuttles and tours depart from, at Pelican Marsh a few miles inland from the beach. The beachfront resorts along Vanderbilt and Gulf Shore are the alternative and are better placed for the rest of Naples. Old Naples, around Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South, is the walkable part of town and has the restaurants; Bonita Springs and Estero to the north are the value options and fifteen to twenty-five minutes away.
05Toegang en hospitality
Tickets are sold only as a whole-festival package, by the foundation, on enquiry by telephone, and the foundation publishes the prices on its own site: $17,500 for the Double Magnum package, covering two guests, and $40,000 for the Jeroboam, covering four. Each package includes two or four places at Meet the Kids Day, at a Vintner Dinner with a car and driver, at the auction, at Wine Down and at the Celebration Brunch. Capacity is approximately 650 guests and the festival states that tickets often sell out before the RSVP deadline. The Vintage Cellar on the Thursday is a separate ticket limited to forty guests. The online auction is free to register for and open to everyone. Trustees and sponsors are recruited directly by the foundation, and there is a volunteer programme.
06Waar de sociale activiteit plaatsvindt
The auction tent and the surrounding grounds at Tiburón on the Saturday, and the lot room on the Friday afternoon, are where the festival gathers. The Friday dinners are in private homes and are not described here beyond the structure the organizer publishes. Outside the festival, Naples's public social life in that week is Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South, the Naples Pier and the beach at sunset, the galleries and Artis-Naples on the north side of town, and the waterfront restaurants at Tin City and Bayfront.

08Praktische informatie
09Geschiedenis
The festival was founded in 2001 by a group of Naples residents who established what was then the Naples Children & Education Foundation — since renamed the Naples Children Foundation — to direct the proceeds into early learning, healthcare, mental health and out-of-school programmes in Collier County, one of the wealthiest counties in Florida and one with substantial child poverty in its eastern communities. The trustee model has been constant: trustees host the Friday dinners in their own homes, recruit the vintners and chefs, and cover the festival's costs so the auction proceeds pass through intact. The weekend has grown in money raised rather than in size — the guest number has stayed around 650 — and the auction has broadened from wine lots into travel, cars and one-off experiences.
10Wie is er
Collector-level wine buyers and bidders, many of them Naples seasonal residents; the foundation's trustees, who host and underwrite the weekend; the guest vintners and chefs the festival recruits each year; sponsors and wine-trade partners; and the leadership of the Collier County non-profits the grants support, who take part in the Friday programme. It is a philanthropic audience rather than a trade one.
