The second half of the American spring double, played on a temporary tennis complex built inside a football stadium.
The Miami Open is the second half of what the tour calls the Sunshine Double, following Indian Wells within days and running twelve days of combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 play with 96-player singles draws. Since 2019 it has been staged at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, where a full tennis complex is built each spring in and around the football bowl and dismantled after the final.
The move north from Key Biscayne changed the event's character more than its standing. For thirty-one years it was played at Crandon Park, a low-rise site on a barrier island; a long legal fight over redevelopment ended that in 2018. Hard Rock is bigger and better connected by road, but it is fifteen miles inland from the Miami people come for, and the tournament has spent the years since rebuilding the atmosphere with music, food and stadium-scale production.
01Pourquoi c'est important
Miami closes the American spring and hands the season over to European clay, which gives it a clear position in the tennis year. In our reading the Miami Open is now a Miami event that happens to be tennis, and the organizer has leaned into that deliberately since the move inland.
02La semaine environnante
Miami in the second half of March is at its busiest of the year, sharing the calendar with the city's electronic music week, the last of the winter art programming, and spring break traffic across Miami Beach.
03Quand arriver
Come in on the first Thursday or Friday for the widest draws and the emptiest concourse courts, and use the weekend for the city.
04Où séjourner
Nobody stays in Miami Gardens.
05Accès et hospitalité
The organizer sells session tickets for the stadium court and grounds admission covering the outside and grandstand courts, along with multi-session and full-tournament packages; ticket sales run through the tournament's own site and its ticketing partner, with an expression-of-interest form used to route buyers to a sales representative for the larger products.
06Où se déroule l'activité sociale
At the venue, the public spaces are the concourse plazas between the outside courts, the food village and the stadium's open decks, all reachable on grounds admission.

08Informations pratiques
09Historique
Butch Buchholz founded the tournament in 1985 with the intention of creating a fifth major, and briefly called it the Winter Wimbledon.
10Qui s'y trouve
A South Florida and Latin American crowd above all, with a large Brazilian, Argentine and Colombian following that gives the stadium its noise, alongside the American tennis industry, corporate hospitality from Miami's finance and real estate sectors, and a young international contingent overlapping with the city's music week.

| 2027 | ConfirméThe tournament's own frequently-asked-questions page gives 14 to 28 March 2027 and adds that the dates are subject to change. That span overlaps the last day of Indian Wells and therefore appears to include qualifying and pre-tournament days; the main draw is likely to begin two or three days later. | |
| 2026 | TerminéThe 41st edition of the combined event, played 17 to 29 March 2026 on outdoor hard courts at Hard Rock Stadium, with 96-player singles draws and a published purse of USD 9,415,725. It was the first Miami Open to include ITF wheelchair events. |
