The Las Vegas Strip Circuit is 6.201 kilometers of public road with seventeen corners, and the part everyone knows is the 1.9-kilometer straight down Las Vegas Boulevard past the resort frontages. The rest of the lap runs behind the Strip on Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue, where Formula 1 bought land and built a permanent pit and paddock building rather than assembling a temporary one each year. The race is fifty laps, run at night, and it is the only Saturday race on the calendar: practice falls on Thursday and qualifying on Friday.

What is unusual is the ownership. Formula 1 promotes this race itself rather than selling it to a local promoter, so the rights holder is simultaneously the landlord and the ticket seller, and the hospitality operation uses the resorts along the lap as venues.

01Por que importa

This is Formula 1's own commercial statement about the United States, made with its own money: the sport did not license the race to a promoter, it built the promoter. The agreement runs through 2037 and the paddock building is a fixed asset. Las Vegas also supplies a host city whose economy already exists to sell three nights to visitors. In our reading it is the most commercially engineered weekend in the sport.

02A semana ao seu redor

The build is visible for weeks, with barrier foundations sunk into the roadway and grandstand scaffold rising on the lots behind the Strip. From Wednesday the closures begin, and by Thursday night the central Strip belongs to the circuit after dark, reopening to traffic in the daytime. Crossing the lap is done on existing pedestrian bridges and through the resorts, which is slow but air-conditioned. The resorts run the surrounding programme: ticketed viewing from suites and terraces, restaurant takeovers and a full nightclub calendar.

03Quando chegar

Arrive Wednesday or Thursday, which is a running night, so Thursday afternoon is the latest that works. The race finishes late on Saturday; a Sunday evening or Monday flight lets you see the city in daylight.

04Onde se hospedar

The choice is between being inside the circuit and being able to leave it. Resorts on the lap, along the central Strip and on Koval Lane, put the event outside the window and sell viewing accordingly, at the cost of long walks through casino floors. The south Strip and convention district are quieter and walkable by day. Downtown, Summerlin and Henderson are cheaper and need a rideshare, a real penalty on race nights.

05Acesso e hospitalidade

Tickets are sold directly by Formula 1's own promoting company, in grandstands and club areas around the lap and in premium zones attached to the resorts, with the Paddock Club in the permanent building at the top. Separately, the resorts sell viewing from rooms, suites, terraces and restaurants overlooking the circuit; those are hotel products rather than promoter tickets and their sightlines vary. General admission in the ordinary sense is limited.

06Onde ocorre a actividade social

The resorts are the venue. Bars, restaurants and terraces overlooking the circuit on the central Strip carry the racing nights; the nightclubs run their fullest programme of the late season; the fine-dining rooms take the corporate entertaining. Away from the Strip, the Chinatown corridor and the downtown Arts District are where visitors go to be somewhere the event is not.

07Como chegar

Aviação comercialHarry Reid International (LAS) sits at the south end of the Strip, minutes from the circuit; race week is among its busiest periods.
ComboioNo useful intercity rail. The Las Vegas Monorail runs behind the east-side resorts and is the most reliable way to move parallel to the circuit.
AutomóvelI-15 runs beside the Strip and brings a large audience from Southern California. Resort parking is charged and constrained during the closures.
Aviação privadaHarry Reid handles business aviation, joined by Henderson Executive and North Las Vegas; the fields fill several days ahead.
HelicópteroRace-week transfer and aerial-viewing flights are sold commercially; the circuit has no public helicopter access.

08Aspectos práticos

TrajeThe most useful advice about this event is to bring a coat: sessions run late into desert nights that fall close to freezing, and grandstands are open to the sky. Evenings inside the resorts follow the city's usual standards.
ClimaNovember in the Mojave is dry and mild by day and cold after dark, with night temperatures that have fallen close to freezing and made tire warm-up a genuine sporting problem. Rain is rare.
Deslocação e transporteWalk, use the monorail, and use the resorts as passageways. Rideshare zones are moved for the closures, and the distance between two points on opposite sides of the circuit is measured in bridges rather than blocks.
HotéisRooms are available, because the city has more of them than almost anywhere, but race-week rates on the Strip run at the top of the year and track-facing rooms are sold as viewing products at a different price entirely.
RestaurantesRestaurant supply inside the resorts is enormous and still fully booked on Friday and Saturday, with many rooms taken for private events. Reserve well ahead, or eat away from the Strip.
Prazo para reservasHotels three to six months ahead for the central Strip; restaurants four to eight weeks; resort viewing packages from the previous winter.
IngressosSold by Formula 1's own promoting company through the official site, in grandstands, club areas and premium zones, with three-day and single-day options. Separately, the resorts sell viewing from rooms, terraces and restaurants; those are hotel products, not promoter tickets.
HospitalidadeFormula 1's Paddock Club operates from the permanent building on Koval Lane and is the top published tier. Below it the promoter sells club and lounge products, and the resorts sell their own trackside hospitality independently.

09Histórico

Formula 1 raced in Las Vegas in 1981 and 1982 on a circuit in the parking lot of Caesars Palace, an arrangement remembered without affection. The modern event was announced under Liberty Media's ownership and first run on 18 November 2023. Its debut went badly in public: opening practice was abandoned within minutes after a loose drain cover destroyed a car, and spectators sent home when the second session ran overnight were later offered vouchers.

10Quem está presente

American and Latin American followers, sponsors entertained inside the resorts, the technology, gaming and drinks industries that use Las Vegas year round, a European contingent making a long-haul weekend of it, and a domestic audience arriving by road.
