Goodwood's members-only historic race meeting, two April days of close racing on the West Sussex circuit.

The Members' Meeting is the smallest and least public of Goodwood's three motorsport weekends, and for many people the best. Two days of historic racing run over the Goodwood Motor Circuit, with grids built around named trophies that change from year to year — the Bruce McLaren Trophy for sports prototypes, the S.F. Edge Trophy for Edwardian giants, the Derek Bell Cup for Formula 3, the Gordon Spice Trophy for big saloons, motorcycle races in memory of Mike Hailwood and Barry Sheene — plus high-speed demonstrations of cars too valuable or too fragile to race. The 2026 edition added a Super Touring shoot-out for 1990s touring cars and a celebration of James Hunt's career.
Attendance is restricted to members and Fellows of the Goodwood Road Racing Club; there is no public ticket. The consequence is a circuit that feels half-empty by Festival of Speed standards, open paddocks, drivers who are approachable, and no queues. Around the racing sit a fairground, street food, traditional games, a Saturday night party and fireworks, and an auction. It is April in southern England and the weather does what it likes.
Goodwood presents it as the opening of the estate's motorsport season, ahead of the Festival of Speed in July and the Revival in September.
01لماذا يهم
The Members' Meeting is where the historic racing community actually races. Grids are competitive rather than processional, the cars are driven hard, and the entry lists include machinery that spends the rest of the year in collections. Because access is limited to club members, the event has kept the character that the Festival of Speed and the Revival have partly traded away for scale.
In our reading, its significance to the calendar is less about who attends than about what it protects. The revived meeting deliberately reproduces the atmosphere of the original club races of the 1950s and 1960s, and it is the only event in the British motoring year where a visitor can walk through a paddock of pre-war and 1950s racing cars without a rope or a crowd. That, rather than the racing, is what members renew for.
02الأسبوع المحيط به
The effect on the area is modest by Goodwood standards — this is the quiet meeting. Chichester, four miles south, fills its hotels and restaurants for the weekend but is not overwhelmed; the A286 and A285 up to the circuit queue at opening and closing. The Downs above the circuit are at their best in April and the walk from the circuit up to the Trundle, the hill fort overlooking both the motor circuit and the racecourse, is free and worth doing. Nothing else in the national calendar competes for the same weekend.
03موعد الوصول
Come for both days if you can; the Saturday carries the evening party and fireworks and the Sunday has the bigger races. Arrive Friday evening and stay in or near Chichester, or drive down early on the Saturday from London, which takes about two hours. Leaving on Sunday evening is straightforward as the crowd is small.
04أماكن الإقامة
Chichester is the natural base: a cathedral city with hotels, pubs and restaurants, four miles from the circuit and on the direct line from London Victoria. Goodwood's own estate accommodation, including the hotel and the Kennels clubhouse, is the closest and is heavily committed to members and hospitality during event weekends. The villages of the South Downs — Singleton, Charlton, East Dean — have good pubs with rooms and are the pleasant choice. Bosham and the Chichester harbour villages are ten minutes further and quieter.
05الوصول والضيافة
Access is by Goodwood Road Racing Club membership only. Goodwood states that being a GRRC Member or a Fellow is the sole way to attend; there is no public ballot and no general sale. The Fellowship is the lower and more readily available tier and carries a discount on Members' Meeting tickets and grandstand passes as well as priority access at the Festival of Speed and the Revival; full GRRC membership operates a waiting list. Tickets are sold to members with an early-bird period and delivered digitally. The organizer also sells hospitality and grandstand packages to members, and an auction runs on site during the weekend.
06مواضع النشاط الاجتماعي
The paddocks, which are open to everyone attending, and the Saturday evening entertainment with its fairground, street food and fireworks. The GRRC clubhouse at the Kennels and the members' enclosures are the club's own social spaces. Off site, Chichester's pubs and the South Downs village inns carry the evenings, and there is no exclusive parallel program of the kind that surrounds larger concours.

The original Members' Meetings were club races run by the British Automobile Racing Club at Goodwood between 1949 and 1966, low-key fixtures that filled the calendar between international events; the circuit closed to racing in 1966. The Duke of Richmond reopened Goodwood for competition with the Revival in 1998, and in 2014 revived the Members' Meeting itself, continuing the historical numbering from the last of the originals — hence 72MM in 2014 and 84MM in 2027.
The format has been consistent since: two days, restricted access, a mix of races and demonstrations, and a deliberate refusal to grow. Its title partner for 2027 is Audrain Motorsport, the American organization behind the Newport concours and museum, which is an unusually direct link between the British and American historic scenes.
10من يتواجد هناك
Goodwood Road Racing Club members and Fellows and their guests: historic racers and their crews, collectors, engineers and restorers, and a long-standing enthusiast membership that treats the weekend as a reunion. Families are common. Because attendance is capped by membership rather than by ticket sales, the crowd is smaller, older and more knowledgeable than at Goodwood's public events.
