A free, decentralised watch fair that takes over Geneva's hotels and boutiques for five days at the end of summer.

Geneva Watch Days has no exhibition hall. Instead, more than seventy houses present their new work in hotel suites, boutiques, showrooms and event spaces around the lakefront and the old town, with a central hub at the Rotonde du Mont-Blanc on the Quai du Mont-Blanc acting as the fair's front door. The Beau-Rivage, the Hôtel d'Angleterre, the Mandarin Oriental and the Hôtel Eastwest are among the buildings that fill with watchmakers for the week.
The format's defining feature is that it is free and public. The organizer opens the doors from the afternoon of the first day and runs full days thereafter, and anyone can walk in and look at watches that in April would sit behind a badge check at Palexpo. Private appointments, dinners and VIP evenings run alongside by invitation or pre-registration, but the exhibition layer itself costs nothing.
It is a different constituency from the April fair. Independents, mid-sized houses and specialists dominate, the presentations are small, and the people showing the watches are frequently the people who made them. The 2026 edition was the seventh and the largest so far.
01Mengapa ini penting
Geneva Watch Days matters because it gives the industry a second date in the year and gives the independent sector a stage it can afford. Building a stand at the April fair costs more than most small houses turn over; a suite at a lakefront hotel for five days does not. The result is a fair where the newest and most experimental watchmaking is disproportionately represented.
In our reading, the more interesting consequence is what it does to the calendar. Watch releases used to cluster almost entirely in April; a September event of this size has spread them across the year, and the trade press now treats the two Geneva weeks as a pair. For a visitor, this is also the more approachable of the two: free, walkable and unbadged.
02Pekan di Sekitarnya
Geneva at the start of September is at the end of its summer — the lake is still warm, the quais are busy, and the city has not yet returned to its winter rhythm of conferences and diplomacy. The fair is dispersed enough that it does not disrupt anything; what changes is that the lakefront hotels are full and their lobbies and bars are working as showrooms. The Quai du Mont-Blanc between the Rotonde and the Beau-Rivage is the natural axis of the week and is a pleasant walk in either direction.
Anyone in Geneva that week for other reasons can drop into the fair for an hour without planning, which is not true of any other watch event of this scale.
03Waktu Kedatangan
Arrive on the first afternoon or the second morning; the opening day starts after lunch. Three days covers the participating houses comfortably and two covers the ones you care about. Because everything is walkable along the lake and in the old town, the fair does not require the logistical planning that Palexpo does. Leave on the final afternoon, when opening hours shorten.
04Tempat Menginap
The Quai du Mont-Blanc and the Rive Droite lakefront put you inside the fair — several of the venues are hotels — and are the obvious choice if you can get a room, though the participating properties are heavily committed. The Rive Gauche and the old town are five to fifteen minutes' walk and better for eating. Beyond the center, Carouge and the Eaux-Vives are pleasant and cheap by Geneva standards, and Nyon and the French side remain the fallback. Demand is real but nothing like April.
05Akses dan Keramahan Tamu
The exhibition is free and open to the public. The organizer publishes opening hours that begin in the early afternoon on the first day, run through full days in the middle of the event and close earlier on the final day. Private events, dinners and VIP evenings sit alongside and require an invitation or pre-registration with the brand or the organizer. Press and trade accreditation is handled separately. Because the fair is distributed, individual houses control access to their own suites, and a few operate by appointment even during public hours.
06Di Mana Aktivitas Sosial Berlangsung
The Rotonde du Mont-Blanc hub and the lakefront hotel bars, which function as the fair's meeting rooms all week; the Watchmakers United boutique and the independent showrooms in the old town; and the restaurants of the Rive Gauche and the Pâquis district in the evenings. The event's whole geography is public space, which is unusual for the industry and is the main reason people enjoy it.

The event was created in 2020, in the collapse of the old fair system and under pandemic conditions, by a group of houses that wanted to present new work without waiting for a hall to reopen. The first edition was small, distributed and improvised, and those constraints became the format. It has run every year since, growing from a handful of founding brands to more than seventy participants, and has settled into a fixed late-summer slot that no longer collides with anything else in the watch calendar.
Its arrival coincided with the disappearance of Baselworld and the reorganization of the Geneva April fair, and it has effectively taken over the role Basel once played for smaller houses: a place to show without belonging to a group.
10Siapa yang ada di sana
Independent watchmakers and the teams of mid-sized houses; retailers and distributors, though fewer than in April; a very large contingent of specialist media, online reviewers and collectors' community figures; and a genuine walk-in public, including Geneva residents and holidaymakers, drawn by free admission. The balance tips further toward enthusiasts and away from the retail trade than at the April fair.
