Tastings, festivals and the wine trade's fixed dates
Food and wine gather in a few places at fixed times: Bordeaux for the en primeur tastings in April, Beaune for the Hospices auction on the third Sunday in November, Alba for the white truffle fair through October and November, Aspen for the Food & Wine Classic in June, Miami Beach for the South Beach festival in February, St. Barts for its gourmet festival in November, Paris for Wine Paris in February. The World's 50 Best Restaurants ceremony moves each year and takes the profession with it.
Most of these are ticketed and public; en primeur week is a trade event whose public dimension is the châteaux' open days.
