Designmuseum Danmark, Copenhagen, Denmark, 3daysofdesign

3daysofdesign started in 2013 as an arrangement between four Danish furniture brands who agreed to open their showrooms on the same three days. It has kept the form and grown into the thing itself: the organizer put the 2025 edition at more than 460 participating brands, over 600 events and more than 60,000 visitors, and it still has no fairground, no admission and no trade-only session.

Everything happens in the buildings where the companies actually work. The showroom streets of the inner city and Frederiksstaden carry the established Danish houses; the converted harbour warehouses at Nordhavn and Refshaleøen carry the larger installations and the international brands that have taken space for the week; the studios in the neighbourhoods west and north of the lakes carry the younger end. Visitors move between them on foot, by bicycle and by harbour bus, which is the correct way to see Copenhagen anyway.

The scale is deliberately limited. Three days means a visitor cannot see everything and has to choose, and the compression is what makes the week sociable: the same few thousand people keep meeting each other in different courtyards. The 2026 edition ran June 10–12 under the theme Make This Moment Matter; 2027 is confirmed for June 9–11.

01Lý do quan trọng

Danish and wider Scandinavian furniture is one of the few design traditions with continuous international commercial force, and this is the week its manufacturers show new work on home ground. For buyers and specifiers it has become a genuine alternative to Milan — cheaper, shorter, easier to navigate and closer to the factories — and a growing number of international brands now launch here rather than, or as well as, in April. In our reading its most valuable feature is the absence of a fairground. Because the events happen in real showrooms and working studios, what a visitor sees is how the companies actually present themselves, not what they can afford to build in a hall for six days.

02Tuần lễ xung quanh sự kiện

Copenhagen in the second week of June is close to its longest days, with light until nearly eleven at night, and the festival takes full advantage: openings run late and much of the programme is outdoors or spills into courtyards. The design museums — Designmuseum Danmark on Bredgade and the Danish Architecture Center on the harbour — program against the week, and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art an hour north on the coast is the standard day trip. The city is busy but not disrupted; Copenhagen absorbs 60,000 additional visitors without noticeable strain, which is not true of most design weeks.

03Thời điểm đến

Arrive Tuesday evening. The programme runs Wednesday to Friday and the first morning is the busiest and best; by Friday afternoon the showrooms are winding down. Staying through the weekend is worth it for the museums and the coast rather than for the festival. Three nights from Tuesday is the right length and almost everyone does exactly that.

04Nơi lưu trú

The inner city and the area around Nyhavn and Frederiksstaden put you within walking distance of the showroom streets and the Designmuseum. Nordhavn and Østerbro are closer to the harbour venues and quieter. Vesterbro, behind the central station, is the best-supplied part of the city for eating and drinking and is fifteen minutes from most things by bicycle. Copenhagen's hotel stock is modest for a capital and the festival is one of the two or three weeks a year when it genuinely fills.

05Tiếp cận và tiếp đón

Everything is free. The organizer states that the festival is open to the general public and that all events are complimentary; there is no ticket, no registration and no trade credential. Some individual showroom dinners and talks are hosted by the participating brands for their own guests, but the exhibitions, launches and installations that make up the programme are open to anyone who walks in during opening hours. The programme and map are published on the festival's own site in advance.

06Nơi diễn ra các hoạt động giao lưu

Bredgade and the surrounding streets of Frederiksstaden in the morning, where the established Danish brands keep their showrooms and the Designmuseum sits. The harbour at Refshaleøen and Nordhavn in the afternoon, where the larger installations go and where the food halls and waterside restaurants absorb the crowd. Courtyards across the inner city in the early evening, when the openings run. Copenhagen's harbour swimming, which is public, free and unusually good, is what people do between appointments in June.

07Hướng dẫn di chuyển

Hàng không thương mạiCopenhagen Kastrup (CPH) is fifteen minutes from the center by Metro and is the best-connected airport in the Nordic region, with direct long-haul services and dense European coverage.
Đường sắtDirect trains from Malmö and Stockholm across the Øresund bridge, and from Hamburg and onward into Germany; Copenhagen Central is a ten-minute walk from Vesterbro and fifteen from the inner city.
Xe hơiUnnecessary and unwelcome. Copenhagen is built for bicycles, the harbour districts are poorly served by car parking, and the city's cycle-hire and rental network is the fastest way between venues.
hàng không tư nhânCopenhagen Kastrup has business-aviation handling; Roskilde (RKE), thirty minutes west, is the dedicated general-aviation field for the capital.
Bến du thuyềnCopenhagen's harbour has several marinas, and the redeveloped waterfront at Nordhavn and Refshaleøen is accessible by water; the harbour buses are public transport and the most pleasant way across the city during the festival.

08Thông tin thực tiễn

Trang phụcPlain and practical. The Danish design trade dresses simply and the festival is spent outdoors and on a bicycle; June weather in Copenhagen swings between warm sun and cold wind off the sound within an afternoon, so layers and a light waterproof.
Thời tiếtLong days and changeable weather. The second week of June sits close to the Danish midsummer, with light until nearly eleven at night and mild rather than warm temperatures; wind off the Øresund is the defining feature and rain arrives in short bursts. We did not retrieve Danish Meteorological Institute normals for this record, so no figures are given.
Di chuyển trong khu vựcBicycle is the correct answer and the city's rental and hire schemes are well organized; the festival's venues are spread over about six kilometers and cycling between them takes minutes. The Metro reaches Nordhavn and the airport; the harbour buses, which are ordinary public transport, run to Refshaleøen and are the pleasantest connection. Walking works within the inner city but not between districts.
Khách sạnCopenhagen has limited hotel capacity for a capital city and this is one of the weeks it fills. Rates rise noticeably and the central hotels sell out two to three months ahead. Apartments and the hotels in Vesterbro, Østerbro and across the water in Malmö are the practical fallback; Malmö is twenty minutes by train.
Nhà hàngCopenhagen's restaurants are heavily booked in June regardless of the festival, and the well-known kitchens take reservations months out. During the three days many of the showrooms and harbour venues serve food, which relieves the pressure at lunch. The food halls at Reffen and Torvehallerne and the Vesterbro bistros handle walk-ins.
Thời điểm đặt chỗHotels two to three months ahead. Restaurants at least a month for anything with a reputation, and far longer for the handful of internationally known kitchens. Nothing else needs booking: the festival itself requires no ticket and no registration.
VéThere is none. The organizer states the festival is open to everyone and that all events are free. The published programme and map on the festival's site are the only planning tools needed. Designmuseum Danmark, the Danish Architecture Center and the Louisiana charge their normal admission and are separate from the festival.
Tiếp đónNo hospitality is sold and no VIP tier exists. Brands host their own dinners and press events for invited guests during the three days, arranged directly by the companies. Everything else — every launch, exhibition and installation on the programme — is open to any visitor during published hours, which makes this the most accessible major event on the international design calendar.

09Lịch sử

The festival was founded in 2013 by a small group of Danish brands looking for a way to bring international buyers to Copenhagen without building a trade fair. It grew slowly for its first five years and then rapidly in the 2020s, as the cost and congestion of Milan pushed manufacturers to look for a second showing and as Copenhagen's own design economy expanded into the redeveloped harbour districts. It remains organized as a festival rather than a fair, with a managing director and a small team coordinating a programme that the participants pay to join and run themselves.

10Ai có mặt ở đây

Furniture and lighting manufacturers and their international sales networks; architects, interior designers and specifiers, particularly from the Nordic countries, Germany, the Netherlands and Britain; retail buyers; design press and photographers, in disproportionate numbers because the settings photograph well; students from the Danish and Swedish design schools; and a large local public, since the festival costs nothing and coincides with the best week of the Copenhagen year.
