Saint-Barthelemy is a 25-square-kilometer volcanic island in the French West Indies, 30 kilometers southeast of Sint Maarten, with a population of about 10,660 people descended largely from early French settlers and later Portuguese arrivals. It has been a French overseas collectivity, separate from Guadeloupe, since 2007, uses the euro, and left the European Union's outermost-region status in 2012, which keeps it outside the EU's VAT and customs union and helps sustain its duty-free retail economy.
The island's calendar runs opposite to its own weather. The dry, cooler season from December to April is both the pleasantest time to visit and the peak of the international yachting calendar, when much of the same fleet that summers in the Mediterranean relocates to the Caribbean and gathers in Gustavia's harbour. Hurricane season, June through November, is the island's off-season, when hotel and restaurant capacity contracts and villa rates fall.

03重要な理由
St Barts holds its place on the yachting calendar less because of any one event than because it functions as the Caribbean's default endpoint for a fleet that spends the rest of the year in the Mediterranean: the same large sailing and motor yachts that fill Antibes, Palma and Monaco each summer relocate to the Caribbean for the winter, and St Barts, rather than any larger island, is where a large share of them choose to gather. In our reading, New Year's Eve in Gustavia harbour, not the Bucket Regatta, is the island's real signature week, precisely because it is the one week that requires no ticket, trophy or invitation to witness, only a harbourside table and a view of the bay.

ホテルエリア
Villas rather than large hotels make up most of St Barts' accommodation; the small hotel stock concentrates around Gustavia's harbour, St Jean's beachfront and the quieter northern coves of Lorient and Pointe Milou. Demand during the New Year and Bucket Regatta weeks extends well beyond hotel capacity into the island's dense villa-rental market.
飲食街
Gustavia's quayside carries the island's most visible restaurant row, facing the harbour and its yachts. St Jean has a beach-club-driven scene, and smaller restaurants are scattered through Lorient and the island's other villages.

ショッピング
Gustavia's Rue de la Republique and the harbourfront quay carry the island's duty-free boutiques, a legacy of its long history as a free port under both Swedish and French rule.
08この場所の変化
St Barts runs on a sharper seasonal switch than most Caribbean islands: a five-month high season from December to April carries almost all of its yachting and social calendar, while the seven-month hurricane season from June to November is a genuine off-season, with reduced hotel and restaurant capacity and villa rates at their lowest.
09沿革
French settlers arrived in 1648; the island passed to Sweden in 1784, when Louis XVI traded it away as commercially worthless in exchange for trading rights in Gothenburg, and Gustavia, named for King Gustav III, developed as a Swedish free port before France bought the island back in 1878 following an 1877 referendum. It was administered as part of Guadeloupe until a 2003 referendum began the process that made it a separate French overseas collectivity in 2007; it left the European Union's outermost-region status in 2012. The island has little agriculture or manufacturing and built its modern economy, from the 1960s onward, almost entirely around tourism and duty-free retail.
